I made conditioner bars today. The first time I made them 3 years ago I wasn't a fan. Apparently my tastes have changed though because I found one of my original bars and have been using it, and I love it.

I also made a small batch of hand cream using kokum butter to replace most of the cocoa butter in the recipe.

I found a tightly sealed jar of lotion/cream base from the DIY B&B recipe that I made in 2021 tucked in the back of my fridge. I wonder if it is still good? It smells totally fine. I think I'll use it to make a small batch just for myself and see how it does.

It's a sugar scrub made with the Foaming Bath Butter recipe from DIY Bath & Body. I love that recipe. As a foaming bath butter, the pH is even suitable for use as shampoo, which is how my daughter uses it. Add sugar and it's a sugar scrub. Add menthol, mint, and salt and it becomes a foot scrub. Add spearmint, tea tree and some jojoba beads and extra fine pumice and it's a facial scrub.
I have been using the sugar scrub as a facial scrub and really like that too. I will eventually make the true facia scrub.

Thank you. It's been a few hours since I made them and the alcohol smell is gone. I just weighed them and they are all right at 30g for now just for reference @Tammyfarms.
If it’s not too much trouble would you give me rough dimensions? Just a width or height measurement. I am thinking of buying some molds for my press and don’t want to buy too big or too small. Just like Goldilocks, I want them to be just right. 😉😂

These testers that are about 30g each are 1.25" in diameter across the top and 1.75" across the bottom. They aren't quite an inch tall, more like 7/8ths of an inch.

Thank you so much! Merry Christmas!

Thoughts on regular granulated sugar or castor sugar for the facial scrub version?
I am using regular, looked for castor sugar before I made this last batch and my usual store didn’t have it. I may look at another store but honestly the regular is fine, it breaks down pretty fast.
ETA: I made a peppermint scrub that’s amazing on the face. Very invigorating.

If you have a spice grinder, you can also grind your regular sugar to be much finer.

Here in Canada, we don't have caster sugar but we do have berry sugar, which is a finer grade of sugar.

I wanted shampoo and conditioner bar sets that I like a better than what I currently use. I made 3 different sets and fell in love with one particular set. Gonna send out some for others to try too. also made a buffy lotion bar dupe. I tried it this morning and was pleasantly surprised. I think it is a little too exfoliating, so I'll adjust that. Just passed one off to my nieces to try. Here's to testing all the things lol.

Please do tell which ones you fell in love with!

I used Body Haven's rosemary mint formula for extreme moisture. I think my hair loves it . I have long, curly, salt and pepper hair. The detox bar felt really nice. Wouldn't recommend for color treatedsince it has the activated charcoal. But, it might surprise someone. I "think" i used one different butter lol. My DIL tried and loved both too and she has thick long coarse hair.

It's time to get my butt in gear. I'll be making a batch of the DIY Lotion Concentrate today. The first market of my 2025 season is in February and I've had several requests for the Avocado Mint Foot Cream and my Mentho Minty Foot Scrub (which is made with the Foaming Bath Butter base). I have enough of that base but not of the lotion base.

With part of the past season's earnings, I splurged and bought myself an iPad 10th Gen for Christmas, to go along with my Macbook Air. I'm hoping it will help aid productivity. I'll be transcribing some of my base recipes (and notes) so I can access them more easily as I'm making products.

I purchased soapmaker 3 to usefor inventory andsuch. I started entering things but put it onhold for the holidays. I swear it's gonna take me 10 months 20 days and 14 hours to enter everything lol. But, I really do need it.

It does take a while to get everything input but it is definitely worth it.

Made a new batch of lip balm with a tweak on my previous recipe. I wanted something "softer" for winter so I decreased my beeswax.
I accidentally grabbed my RBO instead of my AKO (not the tweak I wanted to make). The consistency is right where I want it but the RBO causes it to sit on the lips for way too long. Good news is I only made 10 tubes and while not the best it's still usable.

When you get it right, though, it's worth all the testing. My lip balms have been my #1 seller this past year (item by item). I have two recipes, my standard lip balm (have had the recipe for over 20 years) and my night time lip balm (HB & Me recipe).

@Misschief thanks! I've been having fun experimenting and have my mostly perfect recipe.
The Burt's bees dupe Irish Lass shared 5 years ago combined with a recipe I got from a local class have been great in getting what I want. The addition of lanolin was a game changer for me!
I just needed something slightly softer this winter. My lip balms don't stay warm in my pockets (my body doesn't believe in producing heat) so it was becoming a pain to warm it up and put on my lips.
I guess this would be a great recipe if I was doing snow sports due to how long it sits on the lips.

Is sitting on the lips too long a thing? Most complain it wears off too quick
