I need a vanilla scent that doesn't discolor for an order I need to get made ASAP. Any favorites?
Do you have a favorite FO that this definitely works well with? I need tried and true, no surprises. I'm looking at Warm Vanilla Sugar and Vanilla Bean Noel. Not sure which is best and which supplier to choose but I think either scent would work. I'm also looking at one a little outside the box... Nurture's Comfort and Joy, which doesn't discolor according to the reviews.I thought Bitter Creek went out of business, but just checked the website and it is still up. The VCS they carry works very well.
Look at vanilla Embers from cierra. It wasvery widely pushed for it's no discoloring. I've used it anddon't recall any color changes. "No ricing, no acceleration, no discoloration "I need a vanilla scent that doesn't discolor for an order I need to get made ASAP. Any favorites?
That's the ONLY one that has ever worked for me. All the others would brown and some before a full cure even took place. The one from Bitter Creek is the only one I'll use.The vanilla stabilizer from Bitter Creek has held up for over a year for me. Reports on the homemade color stabilizer a la this thread are that this also works very well over time.
The question will be, how fast is shipping? I'll have to call and ask. I need to make it this weekend at the latest. That's the ONLY one that has ever worked for me. All the others would brown and some before a full cure even took place. The one from Bitter Creek is the only one I'll use.
Shipping was always quick for me, but I am in a neighboring state. Could part of the soap be brown? That way you could use vanilla in part of the batch and another fragrance in the part(s) you don’t want to discolor. The question will be, how fast is shipping? I'll have to call and ask. Yes, but my understanding is that the discoloration caused by FOs can migrate into the unscented neighboring colors.Could part of the soap be brown? That way you could use vanilla in part of the batch and another fragrance in the part(s) you don’t want to discolor.
It can, unfortunately.Yes, but my understanding is that the discoloration caused by FOs can migrate into the unscented neighboring colors.
This one looks promising. What usage rate do you prefer for this one? I don't want it nauseatingly strong but I also don't want it disappearing.Would a cookie fragrance work for your project? Bramble Berry has one called Sugar and Spice that doesn't turn brown, IIRC at most it was a light cream or slightly yellowish. Been a while, but I remember it being a sweet scent with a pretty good vanilla note, and the spice didn't seem strong at all (maybe sort of a combo of vanilla and snickerdoodle cookies?). It is one of the only sweet bakery scents I've seen that doesn't turn completely brown. Just a thought, as I don't have experience with any of the stabilizers.
