Oh my I cut my soap and I'm having another problem I'm trying to take pictures in my newly renovated home and lighting is horrible for taking photos. My soap looks orange in the photos so I'm trying to figure out how to fix that problem.
I think it's okay to edit to remove a color cast or adjust the brightness as long as it better shows how the soap looks in person.

Honestly thought I wouldn't make it! Glad I could though. It's been fun experimenting and trying to get colors with things in my kitchen.
DH gave me a budget and let me buy a bunch of micas as part of my Christmas but I'm not allowed to use them until then 😭. So I'm holding his Christmas kitchen gadgets hostage in retaliation. 😁

Just let me know which photo you would like me to use.
Thank you. The one called "two bars" is the one I posted first, and the one I intended to have judged.

While I realize it sounds weird, I swear I checked it several times and it was showing first at first. @Relle I'll try editing and see if I can fix it.

Now it's looking correct. Screenshot attached. Maybe I imagined the several times I looked and the divider was showing first ... maybe it's just past my bedtime.

Question for folks who've done this before. When I first submitted my entry, I attached the photo with two bars of soap first. For a few days it showed as the first photo. Now it looks like the last photo. I haven't changed anything.

Does this happen sometimes? Will people use the two-bar photo to judge, or will it be disqualified? I'm not particularly attached to competing, it was fun just to enter, but not sure what to do differently next time if photos can just move around of their own accord.
This has happened to me too. Not sure how it happens, my pictures were in the right order for a day or two, then they weren’t. 🤷‍♀️ I think it’s pretty rare but it does happen.

😭😭😭😭😭
I rushed around yesterday to get soap ready for the challenge, but something went wrong. The soap came out hard crumbly, which indicates a lye-heavy batch. There aren’t any hard areas showing lye pockets, so I’m not sure what went wrong. The soap is extremely slippery and slick under the water, quite different from good soap if you know what to look for. In addition to that, I let the soap rest during saponification while I fed the dogs and then went back to it. There are large stearic clusters present in the soap. Yes, I used the soap calculator with the same recipe as usual. Either I mismeasured or the concentrations of the masterbatch lye are problematic. Is it possible, even when well shaken, to have parts of the bottle have too much lye and other parts not enough?

In any case, here is my patchouly and lemongrass fail.

And here is the other yellow soap I made last night that is still too soft to work with. it is a vegan beeswax recipe scented with Nurtures Neroli and Honey.

The entries are all beautiful! Well done!

@ScentimentallyYours I’m sad for you :( It stings when something you can’t put your finger on goes wrong. Not too long ago I had a failed batch that had powdery texture and and the batter turned yellow. I thought it might be lye heavy, but it didn’t zap. The white parts of the soap remained yellow and the other colors were off. I don’t masterbatch, so I don’t have an opinion about that. I remade the batch with the same oils, fragrance and recipe and all was normal, so my thought is the batter wasn’t fully emulsified but 🤷‍♀️ I think your beeswax soap looks great though.

@Zing Love your entry 😍 The transitions in your ombré are so subtle and elegant!
Thanks, 'preciatecha! I also found a hack for my Tall & Skinny mold which bows out. I found 2 bricks in my yard that were as nearly long as my mold. After pouring, I put the bricks on either side. It's the straightest T&S soap that I've made.
