For those who participated in the Mardi Gras Soap 'n Tell, there was interest in doing another one. Too soon? If not, I'd like to propose that we all pose ideas and maybe the administrator can help us figure out how to post a voting poll online (hint). The idea need not be a holiday. It could also be a theme based on color, technique...anything. I had suggested interpretations on your favorite song title, but that's just one suggestion. I'm game when you all are.

How about a spring theme (here in the north country, we're ready) or your best bomb...as in bad.

I love the idea that these aren't "contests" where someone "wins", but just different interpretations of a theme for us to share with each other.
Here's my theme suggestions:
Historical Figure or Reference (similar to your "Era in Time" suggestion)
Favorite Song
Spring (Seasonal)
Rebatches
Herbal Additives
Natural Elements (like Earth, Air, Fire, Water...trees, plants, lakes, etc)

We could do one of the spring holidays, depending on religious leanings ^^

Animals

TV Shows

Food and Drink

Mythology (I'd rock an Aphrodite soap all day)

Love all these ideas. Rebatching intimidates/vexes many but is a necessary skill plus it's rewarding like adopting a shelter pet. Plus it doesn't pee on your floor.

I blended some new scents for St Valentines and one of them I named 'Aphrodite's heart'. I made them into heart shapes, but DH wants me to reproduce the scent in a beer soap in bar shape. Brown ale meets Aphrodite.

A new challenge with pictures would be fun. Lately I have been creating new scent blends and not focussing on the visual so much though. My best selling soap is brown and it has my town's name as part of its name. Inspired by the place where I live. The scent that it. Hard to take a picture of a scent.

I will gladly participate if I can get inspired by the chosen theme. Not TV though, I do not watch TV so know nothing about it....:lolno:

I love that idea!

My thought is to do a take on a song title that was on the charts in the year you were born. In my case that would be 1975 so "Lady Marmalade," "Lyin' Eyes," "Sister Golden Hair", "Rainy Day People," ... I could think of soaps to do for any of those.

#2 on the charts from 1961 was "I Fall to Pieces" by Patsy Cline. Based on my soaping skills, I've got this one in the bag!

June of 81 was "Bette Davis Eyes" and I have no idea how to do that without it coming out creepy looking

Hahaha just from the year you were born, it doesn't have to be the month :p

What about a theme around shapes? I for one love a round soap and love to see the creativity of swirls in round soaps! But there are so many awesome re-purposed molds out there that provide for great shapes! I saw soaps made in cat and dog food containers and they were so cool! The soap edges came out beveled!

I think "creative molds" could be a fun exercise.

I love some of these ideas! I think I will go look up a music chart.

Top of the chart for 1973, "Killing me softly", "Your so Vain" and "Touch me in the morning".........Hahahaha!!!! I love the first two of those songs though! Maybe I might vote for an interpretation of spring instead.

Umm...September 1973:

Let's Get It On (Marvin Gaye)

I have a feeling that any "visually Appropriate" soap for this challenge with that as my theme would be banned from such a classy forum as this...:lolno:

Hahaha. Agreed! Top songs of 1979 are Do You Think I'm Sexy, Ring my bell, bad girls, YMCA. You know basically the hottest songs of the 70s !
