I love a good navy, but seem to have a lot of issues getting what I want with off-the-shelf micas. I finally hit a combo of Nurture micas that works well. It was 16 parts Kashmir, 1 part Nocturnal and a titch of Cheshire Cat. It sounds decidedly purple, but looks navy IRL and on my iPad.
I was practicing swirls, but the FO took off for the top half and this one was became confetti soap.
I used a slow moving FO called Osmanthus (MMS) for this next one one. I actually think this FO may decelerate a bit. It always works well for swirls and even with my palm recipe that moves faster than my lard recipe. I made this soap to use up the beautiful navy mica. My notes are always missing something, and I’m guessing that I lightened up the navy with TD in order to get the lighter blue. What looks like grey is actually very fine banding of navy and salmon pink soap. I might be getting better at making soap, but I still have a long way to go with my photography.
