Ideas for Yellow?

I infused 1 oz paprika into 8 oz OO using water bath on the stove. Then substitute about 1 oz of OO of recipe with the colored OO. Yields a lovely mild lemon yellow. Just ease some of the colored oil into the cup when weighing out the OO to adjust the color.

I am going to try some tumeric for the next batch.

It is if you are making soap to sell but it was just for my personal use and I had some in the kitchen.

Can I ask how much you used? I might buy some bulbs to grow my own this summer.

Just two large strands, you don't need a lot as it is really strong. That was for a small personal soap batch though, only 500g oils.

I reserved a bit of my waterto steep the saffron, then added it to the mix after I had combined the lye and oils.

noob question: do the soap smell of the natural colorant (paprika and turmeric)?

Do you strain out the paprika before using the oil? If yes, will cheese cloth strain it?

The paprika sinks to the bottom, so you just pour the oil off the top. I have infused cocoa, tumeric, and paprika. So far, paprika gives the best color.

I use the "hurry up" method of water bathing the jar. I put enough water into a pan to come halfway up the side of the jar. Set the capped jar in the pan, bring up to simmer, and simmer for about an hour. Then just turn the heat off, place the jar onto a towel or something on the counter, let cool and pour the oil off the top.

And no, there is no paprika smell left in the oil. I used this in an unscented tester batch to check first. No smell.
