Hello Everyone,

I have been doing skincare for a year or so now. I am doing some soaps/ mostly melt and pour and a herbal cleanser with soapwort as well as some lye based scratch recipes but I stopped that as I didn't like working with lye and I had no success with it.

I'm now starting lotions, lip balms and creams and I have so many questions about emulsifiers and more.

Does anyone know where I can purchase vegetal: cetearyl glucoside? I have read that this is safer than the others like emulsifying wax and you can make a nice light lotion with it. I can't find anyone who carries this. Thanks! I will post more questions in the forums soon.

best,

Ellie

Hi Ellie,

Welcome to the forum! :D

I don't know where you can buy cetearyl glucoside. If you can't find it, you might consider using cetearyl alcohol and experimenting by dissolving a minute amount of sugar in the water phase. I don't know if this would work but it's worth a try since cetearyl glucoside is a blend of cetearyl alcohol and glucose.

Here's a link to Swifty's blog in which she discusses cetearyl alcohol. http://swiftcraftymonkey.blogspot.com/s ... yl+Alcohol

Also, you'll find a tremendous amount of information about lotion making on Swifty's site. It's a wonderful blog.

Hi Hazel,

I'm going to check out Swifty's blog... I have found a place in England that carries cetearyl glucoside as well as an organic cold emulsion... I may order from him depending on the shipping costs etc. I may try that combo too with adding the sugar in. I wonder if sugar in cosmetics can affect people's bg levels? Probably not I'm guessing, but I' not sure.

Here is a link for The Soapmaker's Store

Thanks for the info and the welcome :)
