A few years ago, I made cement leaves using hosta leaves. I painted them and gave them as Christmas gifts that year. Mrs. Zing just visited her sister and discovered they use it as a soap dish!

Quick detour:
Is that picture upside down? I'm feeling a little vertigo looking at it. 🌀😵‍💫💫

Back in track:
That leaf looks so thin and delicate! I'm curious about how you managed that!

I just watched several YouTube videos on this. If you get a chance, would you tell me more about your process and which concrete and paints you chose? We have lots of hostas around our house and maple season is just around the corner! 😁

Um, thanks for telling me that there are YouTubes? Like I need more rabbit holes. JK.

Honestly, it's been several summers since I made them. Def a summer project in the garage. I remember that there is a learning curve. The big learning was to keep the cement within the border of the leaf. If you look at the upper left portion of the photo, you can tell I went outside the border. A little bit over, like the one in the photo, is fine, but looks unappealing all the way around.

For paint I used a couple kinds. Some I just use Rustoleum spray paint. Others I used the craft paints in the small bottles like for ceramics that you see in craft stores.

I gotta get to work in the kitchen for our feast and don't have time to search the Forum, but another Forumer made things using a lot of vermiculite and maybe cement that looked like an easier project. I also recently saw a video of someone pouring thin cement on old towels or fabric draped over a bucket to create pots.

Have fun!
