    Master Batching Lye Question

I've been reading in the archives and found a post by soapmaker man. I'm hoping someone can explain it to me... I'm a smart person, but for some reason, I can't wrap my brain around this. He says, "by Soapmaker Man » Mon Dec 24, 2007 11:38 am I make a premix lye solution of 50% strength. This...

    Hard Lotion

If I wanted to make a hard lotion, would I just add ewax or beeswax? Does it need anything like cyclomethicone? The very first thing i ever made was a hard lotion bar using cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax. I hated it. It just sat on my skin and left me greasy. I know that...

Body Oil... use in place of a moisturizer

My friend was telling me about a product made by Passions... or some company that sells *cough* personal pleasure items. They make a product that you use in place of moisturizer. Spray it on. Dry off. Be moisturized. so.... If I wanted to do something like this, what percentages should I...

    Soap Recipie critique

It should be a nice hard bar. But your high coconut oil is going to make a very cleansing bar of soap. I think that some would consider it drying because of that. I think you really don't need the castor oil at all.

    Liquid Soap -- Newbie Question

so you are saying that the soap will separate, and that whatever is on the bottom you will discard? Won't that affect your water percentage? Does it matter? How do different oils affect this process? Is it the same as for CP soaps? (good stuff is all eaten by the lye monster?) Or does the...

Looking for 2/3 basic recipes for....

I didn't take it that you were asking for *my* personal favorite recipe. I took it like you were asking for a starting recipe. To me, its like asking someone for a banana bread recipe. There are basic ones, available everywhere, and there is MY recipe that uses Vietnamese cinnamon and my...

    Adult Acne and Soap questions

I add dead sea mud and rhousell clay to my acne soaps. The teenagers that use them love them. You can also google non-comedogenic oils to see which are less likely to clog pores. I spoke with a friend of mine who used to work for a dermatologist. She said that he would recommend to his...

    My Fragrances. Need some suggestions

You have enough. You don't want to get to many season specific scents as it will be a full year before you use them again! And I know when I buy stuff, I don't buy season specific fragrances anyway b/c if they last past Christmas, I won't want to use them anymore.

How much kaolin clay to use

I've seen a recipe that called for 2T kaolin clay per 1 C. of baking soda. The recipe did not use cornstarch, so I do think this takes the place of it. But I've never made bath bombs. This is just coming from my notes. Good luck!

    Lotion/.creams jars and bottles help

If your lotion has preservative in it, then you should be ok to put it in a wide mouth jar. Have you tried adding water to dilute it to make it more runny so it would come out of a pump? Also, if your recipe uses a thickener, you can either cut that back or eliminate it altogether to make a...
