Hello, I wanted some feedback on lotions and creams. I have all types of bottles. Pumps, squeezable but I think I just can't seem to find the right bottles for my lotions/creams. I seem to have a lot of stuck lotion or too thick to come out... I want to use the wide mouth so then I won't have this problem but worrying about bacteria.. Does anyone use the wide mouth containers so that the lotion etc.. don't get stuck in the bottle. Is it a problem to use with a good preservative. Just trying to figure this out.. I guess my creams are too thick..
Any advice is appreciated. I do have have one light lotion and it still gets too stuck.. lots of waste..

If your lotion has preservative in it, then you should be ok to put it in a wide mouth jar.

Have you tried adding water to dilute it to make it more runny so it would come out of a pump? Also, if your recipe uses a thickener, you can either cut that back or eliminate it altogether to make a more runny lotion.

But remember, if you add water, you add preservative.

Yep any lotion that contains water will need a preservative... there are natural ones out that there that are good.

I don't put my lotions into jars as I don't like to keep sticking my fingers in it as I know that adds bacteria into the lotion whether it is preserved or not so I use tubes or bottles. Try making your lotion a little runnier or just shake the bottle before using it. I have a lotion that is rather thick in a jar while it is sitting but when put into a bottle and shaken it becomes a rather lovely constancy. Maybe try the tottle bottles as you can squeeze the product out of them.

Good luck :)
