    LiquaScents ?

What's the deal with this company? Has anyone ordered from them? are any of their FO's skin safe? MSDS only on request and only on some of them. There prices are kinda low. The only fo usage rate I could find was for Black Raspberry Vanilla and it was 25% !? if I'm reading it right...

    Is expensive butter worth it?

About 3 months ago I began using sunflower in my recipe. I only ever make GM soaps, so they are already creamy. The sunflower oil added richness to the lather and extra conditioning. The down side to it is using it at too high a percentage will yield squishy soap.

Do You Know What You're Putting On Your Skin?

I saw an interview with an EWG rep, on a major news network, and it wasn't much more than fear mongering. Although I do have their site saved and I visit it,to read up on things. I weigh their "facts" against other sources.

    Safe Cosmetics Act of 2013

I tend to agree, Melissa. But If groups of people feel like there are unsafe chemicals in their personal care products, they will continue to push for this sort of thing.

    Safe Cosmetics Act of 2013

The EWG is still pushing hard for the Bill, in it's entirety. They sent me an email last month wanting me to sign a petition. I politely ignored it, I'm still not sure how I feel about this Bill....

Insulating time for lard base with honey.

Warnings about insulating soaps that include honey or sugars of any type, are to prevent over heating. ie soap volcanoes. You stated your soap is hard, so your probably safe from that. If it's still warm, it's probably still gelling. How you proceed is up to you. You have a high amount of hard...

    Hair Serum Advice

I'm not a hair expert. But the op comment about glycerin causing damage to hair in an arid environment, reminded me of something I read on The Sage blog. They stated glycerin is indiscriminate about where it draws it's moisture from. So if there isn't any humidity, the glycerin may draw...

What to do about scent fadage?

I've had a few scents fade, only to come back after they are cured.I have no idea what caused this, and I thought it was my imagination, until looked it up and read about it on suppliers websites. But using the appropriate amount will defiantly help. WSP for example recommends 6% Fo in cp, other...

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

As I type, my attempt at Lindy/Genny's shampoo bar's are in the mold! A while back there were a few posts about the use of eggs in shampoo, which I've used before in my soaps, so I tossed in a few, also decided to add some buttermilk and honey. I figure even if I don't like them for my hair, its...

    Willow bark

I just didn't want anyone thinking I was trying to say the two were equivalent... The willow bark might be a great alternative. I was just so happy with the charcoal I never pursued it

    Willow bark

Well here's one article http://www.livestrong.com/article/131981-charcoal-soap-acne/ Also there are many posts on the Forum on charcoal. salicylic acid medicated soaps sold in stores, and cp soap with added AC are two totally different animals. My pimple prone friends and family prefer the...

    Willow bark

I had considered using white willow bark in my acne bars. But I couldnt find usage rates, and their are few companies who carry it. I went with activated charcoal, i found the results to be similar IMO to salicylic acid and it's easier to come by.

    Weekend Plans?

Sorry to hear about your scale, Badger. That stinks! On a happier note my salt bars came out pretty nice! I colored them pink and purple (for no particular reason) dumped in an oz of tea tree oil just b/c. sf at 30%. I was still worried about them being drying so i added lanolin at 5 %. I tested...
