Soap cake with whipped soap topping

That may work for Nizzy's room - placed in Australia. Maybe I am overly cautious, but I whip after I melt them and let them cool down. Which does require more patience, because at first, they won't whip properly. But as you mix some more, the air that's being incorporated helps cool down the...

Soap cake with whipped soap topping

You can only hope that most of the oils were melted. The chunks probably won't saponify. Another guess about what went wrong - you might have cooled the lye too much.

    Salt bar help! **Pics added**

Individual molds are certainly better, personally I favor cheaper alternatives. Like 3 bucks for half a dozen baking silicone molds from the hardware store.

    Shocking!

I would never tell people to perform an unsafe action (if I ever did so, it was either by mistake or misunderstanding). And it certainly isn't a habit, like you seem to imply. On this topic: 1. I was expressing disapproval towards what I see as unconstructive criticism (or at least a case...

    Shocking!

Personally, I'm more bothered about the wtf attitude, like we should send somebody to beat them with a stick into doing the right thing.

    Shocking!

Well, if it works for them, who are we to question it ? Anybody got burned ? Also curious - what do they use to mix the soap ? A blender or do they mix manually ? From what I have experimented, it can be done, if you can pour quickly and completely drench the lye in water before it has...

How cold can soap cure in?

Often freezing over here this winter. Cure seems to work out fine, just seems to take longer.

    pH meter

Probably better if it has 2 point calibration (can be manual calibration - it's got 2 knobs) and also temperature display.

    Oat milk soap

Thinking about it, I would dissolve the lye in water and add powder oat milk (which in fact is oat flour :) ).

    Oat milk soap

What was the glob ? The milk mixed with lye or the traced soap batter ?

    Cutting soap

Or maybe you just need a larger soap holder :P

    Benzyl alcohol

You mean rose water that you make yourself, from rose petals? The floral waters I've purchased don't contain any preservative.

    high altitude

No, just don't drop it, a bar of soap falling 8300 ft can be quite painful for whoever is below :P

    Salt Soap & Fragrance

Are salt bars supposed to behave differently in terms of fragrance ? What you call chlorine smell, do you suspect it to be caused by the fragrance, by the salt, by the soap, or ... ? I've had many smells in soap, but never experienced or heard of chlorine.

Cream Soap - Loss of fluffiness, OH NOES!

Not having tried cream soap, I am wondering if maybe it's got too little density, which could mean too soft or too much water in it. Or maybe too high temperature. Do try to put a spoon of it in the fridge and see if temperature can be a factor.

Forgot to add half my lye water! Any hope?

Rebatch can mean different things. For a soap that has too little lye, personally I would rebatch with draining away the excess oil.

Intersting video on how to get rid of ash

What bubbles are you talking about ? I see no bubbles ... All that I see is the surface of the soap getting wet. If I leave it for a longer time, it gets really moist, and it forms a whitish liquid which drips down.

    non dissolving sodium hydroxide

Well, that also happened to me, except it was my mistake. The package was clearly labeled with a lower content of lye and a high content of salt. I was able to separate out some of the salt, which tends to fall to the bottom of the jar, and it in fact it does look like fine crystals...

    Re-batch for more lather?

But you can add some ... coconut soap :) Either little chunks of coconut soap, or there is another method of rebatching, which is mixing shreds of old soap into a new soap batter. Also, the oatmeal may contribute to a reduced lather.

    Scenting liquid soap

Personally, I don't care about cloudiness, but there was another thread on this topic ... From what I vaguely remember: heating the soap, with adding glycerine, polysorbate together with the EO.
