Hi!
I've made this lovely goat's milk oatmeal honey soap. Super 'creamy' from the goat's milk but really low lather. Is it possible to re-batch a soap and add, I dunno, more coconut oil or such to heighten the lather?
I'm pretty new at this but thus far have made about 20 soaps mostly goat's milk and haven't had this problem.
Thanks!

adding CO or any other oils after the soap is finished will make your soap more "moisturizing" for lack of a better word. CO is not bubbly, CO soap is.

re batch for lather

Thank you for such a quick response!
About the co, this I know (that it's not lathery in and of itself)...
So re-batching can not change the lathering characteristics of a soap, is that right? Nothing can be added that will enhance the lather?
Thanks for bearing with me!

Time might help.

Lather usually improves after a good long cure.

A theory - perhaps the fat content of your goat's milk was higher (it's kidding season, no?) and that might have altered your effective superfat and your lather? Dunno, I don't raise goats but I've read a lot by people who do on this forum.

Agree, time might help.

Another thing you can do is grate or chunk it iinto a recipe that is more lathery. Then you combine the characteristics of each recipe.

Thanks guys!
I'll give it time, and you're probably absolutely right about the fat content in the milk! I hadn't even thought of that!
If time doesn't work I'll try combining it with a super lather soap. Thanks again for all your help!

But you can add some ... coconut soap :)

Either little chunks of coconut soap, or there is another method of rebatching, which is mixing shreds of old soap into a new soap batter.

Also, the oatmeal may contribute to a reduced lather.
