What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I experimented with French clay masks. Wicked a recipe I saw on BB trying to replicate a consumer product. Not sure I like the results because I didn’t include a gum or cellulose 🧐

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Made a batch of beard serum and beard conditioner. I usually make unscented for my son but this serum batch was scented for gifts. And now I have to make some soap with the scent.Birchwood Oud by BB.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Absolutely!!! Two color swirling, preferably any color and white, are about all I can handle!!

What soapy thing have you done today?

I’ve come to the revelation that I suck at combining more than two colors 😕 So today I stuck with what seems to be working best for me - Single color soaps using the hot process method. 🤗 I made a small batch using woad infused oil. It came out a really pretty soft pink and I gave it a pretty...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Yep. Used about 25% Laurel Berry and the rest was olive oil. And a 20% water discount. It’s on the bottom of my drying rack so I won’t see it. Maybe I can forget about it for a good long while 😆 Such good ideals regarding testing!! With the long cure time and me wanting to give as gifts, I’ll...

    Oils for Lotion Bars

They are very close. I did a side by side (one leg and one arm) comparison and thought the Illipe made my skin softer 🤷🏽‍♀️ but maybe that’s just a personal preference.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Made an Aleppo style soap today. Anyone ever make this? How long did you wait to test? (I know this has to cure for a year 😢)

What soapy thing have you done today?

Thank you!! I didn’t see it could look like marbeling. I was copying a turntable technique from I Dream in Soap 🤗

    Oils for Lotion Bars

I totally agree!! I’ve been using Kokum butter since I started formulating. But have you tried Illipe butter? I just made some soap and an emulsified body butter with it. The soap still curing, but the body butter is fantastic!

Have you thought about subbing sugar? You can substitute sugar serum (1:1 mix used at twice the amount calculated for SL)

    Oils for Lotion Bars

I use Bandassu oil in soap recipes when I want to swap out animal fats. Similar profile. Also it makes a really moisturizing lotion/cream for dry skin 🤗

What’s the madder with my madder?

I just saw this post and have a question because I got some madder and thought I could infuse it like I do Tumeric or Paprika. Made a bloody mess and my oil was a nice yellow. Anyway, the madder "tea" is used as a partial or full water replacement? The color will shift when lye is added. How...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Do you use a mortar and pestle to grind the pumice? Asking because I got pumice stone and ground by hand. But the texture was to course for him. This time round I re-ground the pummeled pumice in a coffee grinder. 🤨 Don’t think that’s good for the grinder though.

    is it possible ?

I agree with the super slow shipping until recent. I live in California so WA state shouldn’t be a heavy lift. It has gotten MUCH better. Placed an order in the am and it was shipped the same day 🤗 For me, the prices including shipping are better than most. 😊
