I'm with you on this one!
I started making goat's milk soap with low coconut oil like 3-5%. I also use oils that give me a very high conditioning value on the soap calc and lower supper fat like 2%, a lower superfat will increase the bubbles. I use about 40-50% Lard, 5%Shea Butter 5%castor.
Then I add sugar, Aloe, and a chelator so I can get more bubbles.
And let this cute for at least 2 months.

I also like ZNSC but I find my high Lard recipe above more gentle on the skin, I was going to try ZNSC with goat's milk like @AliOop recommends but the price of olive oil is scary these days 😨

as for lotion bars, I absolutely love @Zing lotion bars with mango butter, Thank you Zing!!! I live in the north pole and it's brutal in the winter on my skin. Thanks to Zing's lotion bars and homemade soaps. I had no problems last winter.

I dislike the oil residue from lotion bars. So I make my bars with mango butter and oils that are quickly absorbed, I also made then in an oval soap shape. After I shower, and my body is still wet, I super quickly run the lotion bar on my body where it's dry and needs moisturing. The oval shape makes them slide well.
Then I pat dry myself. It just leaves enough of a barrier to protect the skin without leaving a sticky oil residue behind.
I also noticed that yellow less refined beeswax gives my lotion bars better results than the more refined pellets,
The less refined beeswax is better on the skin and the bars are harder and I get a thinner layer of the lotion bar when I use them.

So good luck, keep on trying and experimenting until you find something that will work for you 😊
I appreciate the shout-out. For longtime members, this will sound like a broken record. But maybe for some new forum-ers, it'll help. For DECADES I had dry and rashy skin. In the U.S. Midwest winter, my fingertips would crack and bleed. I literally used Super-Glu on my fingertips proactively and reactively.

I got into soapmaking for the creativity and was pleasantly surprised to see my skin health turn around. And then I made lotion bars which pushed it all over the edge. Now in winters, it's been years since my fingers have cracked and bled. I haven't had a hang nail since forever. I play piano and garden and don't take my fingers for granted.

The recipe is simple and easily tweaked to add more or less wax or oil. 1/3 each of beeswax, butter, oil. I add 1% vitamin E oil and an essential oil (check eocal.com). I like mango butter because it's not greasy.

The truth is that I liked this very simple recipe that I have available except for the mango butter. I have not tried it before and it is really useful. Thank you very much. As soon as I make it, I will write my experience here. I chose argan oil. I find it light on the skin.

Just in case any any one is interested there is a great oil free lotion recipe that I even love for hair conditioner. As much as I hate Bramble Berry and Ann Marie it is one of her recipes. It was a great seller for me. Also adding Isopropyl Myristate to lotion bars will help cut the greasiness. I added it to all my lotion bars, it was one of my favorite ingredients and also an ingredient in my oil free lotion.
Here is the link for the lotion, which of course I added a few tweaks but it is a great lotion as is. I will note I do not use the Tapioca Powder in it. I tried it the first time, my test batch, and the lotion went moldy. Also, do not heat the silicone if you do the lotion will not emulsify. I also like the feel of 50/50 cimethecone and dimethicone.

“Hate” Bramble berry and AnnMarie? Isn’t that a tad strong? Hate is a destructive emotion. I completely disagree with her “mixing lye in a glass container,” but, other than that, she is simply a person doing what she does. I, honestly, do not have time/space in my life for hate.

Hey thanks, I am going to try out your formula. I have also come across a formula that uses a small amount of tapioca starch. I will give them both a try as my skin gets so dry All The Time.

Agree. I think Brambleberry is good at what they do. I take knowledge from those who kindly share and discern with my brain. But back to lotion bars, I do think this is a great product to add to a soap biz. 🥂

I wouldn't say that I hate Ann Marie, as I don't know her personally. But her business practices have been super sketchy in the past, and more than once, it took the threat of legal action for her to do the right thing by her customers. That was some years ago now. I do believe people can change and learn and grow. Hopefully she has.

I rarely order from BB since their prices are generally higher than most, and their shipping was always sooooooper slow in the past. However, the most recent two small orders placed with them arrived much faster than previously, so hopefully their overall process has improved.

I agree with the super slow shipping until recent. I live in California so WA state shouldn’t be a heavy lift. It has gotten MUCH better. Placed an order in the am and it was shipped the same day 🤗
For me, the prices including shipping are better than most. 😊

I'll probably never order from BB, but that's because I'm far from the US and Canada. Like most people, I've seen the videos and I found them entertaining and interesting when I first started showing interest in the craft. To me, the tutorials she makes are more about style than substance, although one can still learn some important things by watching the channel. But I didn't know about the bad business practices - I guess you can't be big in something if you haven't done wrong at some point
