    Gelling too fast?

I had the same surprise, color looked great when I molded it, come back the next day and I'm thinking the soap gremlins switched my soap with someone else's whole different color.

    Gelling too fast?

I made a carrot soap a couple months back. I juiced the carrots with a juicer then used the fresh juice in place of water. I allowed the lye/carrot juice to cool before adding it to the oils which prevented any over heating issues.

    Cottonseed oil? And adding lather

Have you considered Castor Oil or do you already have Castor Oil in the recipe?

Where Does Everybody Purchase Their Lye From?

Essential Depot as well. Great price, great service, great product and the two pound bottles are very easy to handle and store. I buy either 32lb or 64lb at a time and they are very consistent bottle after bottle.

    Weebly & More....

I also use Weebly and I have had absolutely no problems with them. I did my website and went from zero to up and going in less than a day. I have done quite a bit of research since then working with search engine optimization and tweaking a few things here and there and I am quite happy with...

New member from Illinois (nowhere near Chicago)

My personal preference for essential oils and fragrance oils is brambleberry. The down side is they are in Washington state and they are slow to ship. No big deal so long as you know this ahead of time and plan accordingly. I have had terrible luck with EOs and FOs from essential depot...

lsg, how much vitamin E do you add ppo? I have recently added another refrigerator just for soaps so refrigeration is not a problem at this time

Looks really good! As for the straight even slices, a miter box with a straight edge (wide blade putty knife works best) works well but you will find if the cutting tool is too thick it just mushes through and if it is too thin it will flex giving slight curves. I tried everything I could...

    Using jojoba oil

I just bought some jojoba oil so this got me curious. When I check the jug I just ordered, it does not have a use by date on it nor does it have a manufactured on date. So I got to checking some online sources and found a page that has shelf life of carrier oils (see link below if interested)...

    Gelled vs ungelled CP soap

When it comes to zap testing, if it zaps there will be no doubt about it! When I started I was the same way until I actually zap tested a lye heavy soap. From that point on there has been no question about whether or not I got a zap.

    Puzzling question about salt bars

I added the same mixture of FO and EO that I always have in this recipe. 16ml (12ml of FO, 4 ml of EO) of the blend to 2.1 lbs of oils.

    Puzzling question about salt bars

I poured a batch of salt bars the other night that have me scratching my head and wondering what caused a little glitch. The bars ended up oily, here's the specifics. I used a tried and true recipe, 80% coconut 20% Castor, 80% non iodized, fine sea salt, super fatted at 12%. I have used...

    Shrinkwrap Tips and Tricks?

I just ordered a shrink wrap system from National Shrinkwrap. I ordered the system with the wand and I can't say enough about how easy and flawlessly it works. So far I have been using the 60 gauge polyolefin perforated and I have had no problems with stringies frizzies or partial seals. I...

    Cranberry & Citrus Salt Bars

cmzaha, I used an individual silicone cavity mold from Brambleberry. I like using it because I can pour them full, scrape them off level with a straight edge then add the pink himalayan salt and get a perfectly consistent product very quickly and with little effort. Give them about 12 hours...

    Orange blossom goat's milk

looks fabulous. By the way that looks like the exact same mold I use for my salt bars. I have yet to try anything other than salt bars in it but it works flawlessly for them and I love it!

    Cranberry & Citrus Salt Bars

Cranberry and Citrus Salt Bars that I just took out of the mold this morning. The fragrance is the Cranberry Chutney fragrance oil from Brambleberry to which I added both orange and lemon essential oils. The color is a mixture of red and yellow oxide powders. These are 80/20 mix of coconut...

    Lavender Goat's Milk

It is a very creamy soap. This particular recipe is just over 40% olive oil and just under 40% lard. My customers love the goats milk recipe and the feedback I get from them is amazing.
