Why not just name it after yourself? All the Bud Cutters are named for the guy who makes them. It makes finding them online fairly easy. I don't know if you ever plan to make and sell them, but if you do, it might simplify the process. Besides in many states in the US, you don't have to have a 'ficticious name' or DBA license to name your business after your own name, but you do it you name it something else.

Although I do like Moby Deck. That's got a really nice ring to it.

Regarding choosing colors, there are some tools out there to help choose colors. Maybe watch a few videos by Vibrant Soaps. He is a fabulous colorist and tends to spend a little time on color choices, at least in many of his videos. Here is a link to his youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgT_IKD3-Ekz9Yq5TH6hEmA

We did a Challenge here at SMF about choosing colors, using this color calculator: https://www.sessions.edu/color-calculator/

This is a link to that challenge: https://www.soapmakingforum.com/thr...ap-challenge-creative-colour-challenge.61553/

How I choose colors, depends on my inspiration. Sometimes I see it in my mind; sometimes I go through my colorants and choose what catches my fancy at the time; sometimes I want to represent something specific (as you say, a photo or some other inspiration like a bird or a tree or a painting, etc.) and choose my colors based on that. Sometimes a theme provides inspiration for color as well.

I really do have a serious lack-of-good-taste problem. I dont have a great eye for color and usually over-do the colors. I’d be interested to know how y’all choose your colors. Do you just see them in your mnd’s eye or pick them up off of photos?

I usually try to pick my colors to match the scents, I think it works most of the time. I really like soaps with color but lighter color or white for the main color. I just love your soap that has barely any color on it cuz I think it makes the color and the swirl pop. I have made soaps with a lot of color but they aren't my faves but I have friends and family who love them. so I don't really think you have a "lack-of-good-taste problem" at all. it is all so personal and you have made some beautifully colored soaps. I wasn't saying I didn't like your color on this soap--it just my personal preference. oh and sometimes I do try to mimic videos colors and try to find a scent that I think works with the colors

Oh, I didn’t take it that way at all. I’m just amazed by some the things you guys do...like that pink kiwi solids couple of weeks ago. I’d never have come up with that in a mission years. And that’s just 1 example by the way
