Just wondering what method (HP or CP) people like best and why. I like HP mainly cause I'm too inpatient to wait 2 months for my soap and I like the rustic look you get with HP soaps.

How about you wats your fav soaping method?

ahhh

I like CP because I like the looks and textures that I can achieve with it. Rustic is not my thing. I cure my CP soap 4 weeks before sharing or selling them, but I use them whenever I wish. (8 weeks is not necessary with the exception of soaps that are very high in olive oil.)

I do some HP for tricky FOs, but those I absolutely cure for 4 weeks as well - before sharing or selling them. The soap, in MY experience, improve considerably during that period.

i like cp more because of the looks, and also cause you don't have to heat up your oils too much (or at all for liquid oils) which saves the good stuff in them like vitamins..
i also don't like much the hp texture, and don't mind waiting longer if it's worth it

I prefer CP. I've made mostly HP and have only recently started making CP. I don't like having to wait but I love CP soap.

CP, definitely. I know a lot of people like the rustic look in handmade soaps, I'm just not one of them. I love the swirls I can get with CP, I prefer the look and feel of the finished bars, and the wait doesn't bother me.

I haven't tried HP. I enjoy CP soapmaking. Part of soapmaking for me is being thrifty. HP is an extra step.

i have never done hp but I like cp just because its so easy and I dont have to sit and stir at a crockpot or bother with the oven... with 2 young children, I just dont have the time

I do both, but I like CP best. Like Carebear, I save HP for my ornery FOs (I use the oven method). CP allows me to give free reign to my creativity, it takes me much less time to do, and my resulting soaps are much prettier and streamlined in appearance.

IrishLass :)

I do them both, while im waiting for cp to cure, i do hp, love them both. I DO like the less fo in hp, and not waiting as long to cure. Ahh, im just addicted!

They both have so many perks it's hard to discard both. I still do CP but for the reasons you stated above HP is still my # 1 choice.

Now here is another question for you guy's What's the longest you've spent without making soap?

The most for me was 1 week and just about went nuts LOL

i prefer to do HP because i like the way they look, but i also enjoy CP. i do HP mostly though

I like cp. I've tried hp, but just couldn't get into it like cp.
The longest without soaping-a week. Drove me crazy! (short trip! )

I've only done cphp so far and I love it. I like the look just fine and I feel like I have better control over it. After I've moved and have the space to leave soap curing for a month, I'm going to try cp, right now I have minimal space.

I have my fourth batch cooling as we speak I think I started soaping a little over a week ago.

I like CP better in general, however when working with a high ratio of BDG I usually HP because things just work better around 180*F. Most of the BDG is already soap, so the more BDG I use the more it's like a re-batch.

Sometimes I have to use SL. SL gives the soap a more CP type look in the end, but too much and your soap can get too hard and brittle.

If I'm making liquid I always HP.

I prefer HP especially since viewing a tutorial on how to make my soaps look just as smooth as my CP batches. Now they look just as smooth and I don't have to wait as long to use them or give them away.

There were other tutorials for the same process but I think her's was the best (a lot of close-ups) HTH
