How Long?

Now here is another question for you guy's What's the longest you've spent without making soap?

The most for me was 1 week and just about went nuts LOL

Unfortunately, I have a Traumatic Brain Injured husband (13 yrs last Aug) that requires a lot of care. Besides having a headache/dizziness 24 hrs a day, there's anger to deal with and a sense of smell that would put a bloodhound to shame! Some of the fragrances he can tolerate, lots he can't. So, about 6 weeks or so ago, while it was still warm enough to open windows, I made 6 different batches after a 3-4 yrs break. I sure did miss it!

We moved Nov 2008 and have a larger house. One spare room is where I set my soaps. He complained at first about the smell when he went to bed, but I think the nice fragrances actually helped him sleep better....once they simmered down.

P.S. I prefer CP. I've done both, but don't like the dark tan color of HP nor how it sets up in a box mold.

So far I like rtcp/op. I seem to get better results than rtcp alone and to much going on to be able to focus on coking hp.

I've been so happy with my CP soaps that it hasnt even crossed my mind to try HP, I think I will for some liquid soaps though.

P.S I have a theory why soap making is addictive...it's like making a present for yourself over and over again, you cover it up and then wait to unwrap it and get that oh oh oh i wonder whats inside everytime lol

I have only done hp, and I have only done 3 batches so far. But I can't say I am in any hurry to try cold press, because I can't even wait for the hp to cure before I use it!! I have been very happy with the soaps so far, and will try cp eventually- especially since I got my bramble berry order (fragrance and color) in the mail last night! I personally like the rustic look, but am looking forward to making swirls with the cp if I ever find the patience to try it!

I love HP but CP gives you a bit more creative space as far as swirls and the molds you can use. You should give it a try some time I think you will enjoy it also...

I so love the bramble berry FO's and colors. Have you tried their Pineapple cilantro scent? It's so yummy I literary didn't know what to do with my self LOL same thing goes for their Cinnamon sugar.

i have never done hp but I like cp just because its so easy and I dont have to sit and stir at a crockpot or bother with the oven... with 2 young children, I just dont have the time

Same here (except 3 young children  ,) although I've been considering trying it for some of those tricky FOs.

HP is great for the tricky FO's specially Citrus EO's. I got 2 kids 1 homeschooling at home so I mainly make my soap at night or during nap time...

Depending on your recipe and pot you could have HP soap in 1 hour. I do have some that take longer but for the most part my batch is done cooking and molded in 1 hour. I use one of the newer crock pots they heat up fast and much hotter than the older models so it helps a lot. If I have to do a large batch (anything over 4lbs I use a very Thick stainless steel stock pot. The kind used in pro kitchens and I find that it works just as well as the crock pot at Med-low heat) I say the longest it has ever taken me to do an HP batch has been 2 hours and it was mainly cause it was a 100% OO batch.
