okay. Thank you. I'll give them a good scrub (gently, of course). I may not have washed them well enough. Appreciate the quick answer because I wanted to do another batch this week. I love making soap. There is something so satisfying as the mixture thickens and traces and........thanks again! : )

Like shunt I wouldn't worry about it as the scent won't transfer.
I treat my silicone molds with TLC. I don't scrub them or bleach them or put them in the dishwasher. I wash them with dish detergent once then again. That is it. They are as good as new and still shiny.

thank you! That is reassuring and I will do just that. Puts my mind at ease. I just noticed your "penelopejane" . I have a new great granddaughter and her first name is penelope. Just such a pretty name. She's 2 and 1/2 months old and I get to help take care of her three days a week.......I sure wouldn't get up at 6 A.M. otherwise!
Thanks you again for taking time to answer and I'm off to the kitchen sink.
Have a wonderful soapy day.....

Penelope Jane is what my mother always called me - that or Pen. Dad had other ideas and he won with just Jane on the birth certificate but Mum never gave in!

Since I use PVC rounds for my Salt bars, I wanted rectangular ones for regular soap.
I bought some cheapo Amazon 2-1/2 # lined molds. I have 4 and they are fine.
But I find myself wondering if I should buy a longer one that holds way more soap. This would make it easier for making stock. I have the long Bud Cutter (because of my PVC mold is long).

This post is because of the DIY molds I was reading. I LOVE the silicone liners and do not want to have to line a wooden mold ever again. It is time I could be doing something else, plus they are easy to clean. (Edit to say I am talking about the HDPE molds here)

What size do you like the best.
What size is TOO big for CP Soap where it won't EDIT: SET Uniformly

I sell and so don't want to spend time lining molds. I use the Crafters Choice silicone loaf molds 1501 that I originally purchased from I think Wholesale Supplies Plus. Over time I have built up a supply of 16. 4th qtr. most are full at once. I LOVE THESE MOLDS. A very manageable size - 2.25 lbs per loaf - I FILL FULL. Easy peasy clean up. No lining, or liners. I have used them for 5 years and they are like new. I also have the 1502 for making samples (like little hotel bars) and the 1504 a one lb. mold for testing new recipes. Love them all. I believe you can now get them on ebay and at Bramble Berry.

I'm concerned that the lavender fragrance will stay in the silicone
What shunt said, if may still smell a tiny bit of the previous scent after washing, but I've also never had scent transfer to the new soap. I've been using silicone molds for about 8-9 years, maybe longer, and it's never happened. I've only had to replace 1 of my silicone molds, and that was due to me and my clumsiness, nothing to do with the mold itself...
