I made Avocado Mint Foot Cream to gift a friend for her birthday. I didn't have any Vanilla FO so I just used a blend of 50/50 Peppermint EO and Spearmint EO and added 1% menthol crystals ala @Misschief. I'm going to test it out myself after a hot shower tonight because it looks and smells incredible.

Update:
Oh.My.Wow. This has such a lovely pillowy, creamy consistency. It spreads well, no soaping, and smells soooo good. Why did I wait so long to try this? I'm not getting any tingles, just a pleasant cooling sensation. I'm definitely checking my inventory tomorrow to see if I have more small jars or if I need to buy some so I can make a bigger batch ASAP.

My two cents- and I’m still very much a novice. Some of the shininess will come from the oils used.
The first couple batch’s of base I made I used avocado oil, mango butter and jojoba oil. I found all of those to be pretty shiny.
My last batch of base I replaced all the oils with tallow (not sure if you use animal products) and I love it. I have made lotions with 15% base and a cream with 20%. To each I add
1% honey
1% colloidal oats
1% hydrolyzed Keratin protein
2% IPM
2% Cyclomethicone
1% opithen plus
This last batch of base makes a much less shiny version. With these additives I’m also not getting any soaping. I do like the idea of adding panthenol and will probably do that.

I was wondering if IPM or tapioca starch might be the winning ticket. I might try one in my next batch. Thanks

Is shininess (light reflection) the issue, or the soaping effect (i.e, whitish streaks that take time to be rubbed in)?

I do find that even as little as 1% IPM reduces soaping. You can also try reducing the emulsifier just a tad, as that is typically the soaping culprit.

I've not really paid attention to shininess per se, but if the IPM doesn't help with that, too, you could try cyclomethicone or dimethicone. Since they help with absorption, my guess is that you would see less shine.
