It’s cold here too. Our high was below freezing and it’s currently 16F at 6pm. We are in for more cold. I still prefer this to the hot summers of North Carolina.

Today I made a batch of Buffy Bars, I have decided I can’t live without one in my shower for dry winter skin. Then I made three scents of shower steamers. Let me just rant for a minute…. If the first batch I made (last month) had been this stinking hard I would have chucked it all in the trash and never attempted again. The first round went pretty well, orange/menthol. The second batch was spearmint/menthol. I couldn’t get the ratio of wet to dry ingredients balanced. I probably made 15-20 attempts to get the four pucks that I made. Batch 3 was my sinus relief blend and that was probably another 10-15 attempts to get 4 finished pucks. Geeze. Yes, there was cursing. I learned some stuff that will hopefully remember next time.
Personally, anything under 50 degrees sucks for me.....the temp. in Melbourne looks dang good right now. So hey what are "Buffy Bars?"

So, why in particular Melbourne it's a heatwave and people are dropping like flys with heat exhaustion. Another day here tomorrow with 38, way too hot to deal with.

I just did the conversion, that’s just over 100F. Way too hot. No wonder folks are getting heat exhaustion. Be safe. 🥵
I'm not in Melbourne, but it's still going to be hot tomorrow at 38, we don't have air conditioning - our air con is a window :p.

I guess I am used to 100 but we do have air conditioners. It's snowing here & I prefer heat. I have never been to Australia but plan on going in a couple years. We don't drop like flies but @ 110 we do open up cooling shelters. We will use lots of fans too. I think it's easier to cool down than warm up, but others say the opposite. I would like to be anywhere the weather is at least 80.

Thought I would give Body oils a try. Found these pretty 4 oz bottles that I think will be great.

They are cute ~ but are they for your own use? I thought the same thing about wanting cute little bottles for my oils and then it dawned on me that it might not be the best idea. Oils make hands slippery and more prone to slipping/dropping the bottle while using oiling up. Just sharing a thought 😊

I use plastic for foaming scrubs and such for that reason too. Stuff gets slick in the bathroom lol. Some are for home folk, yes.

A few months ago, my neighbour gave me a recipe for Zinc Cream. She's asked me a few times if I've made it yet and I hadn't. Well, today, I did. In honour of her, I'm calling it Auntie Erica's Zinc Creme. Erica is a former ER nurse who loves formulating. It's a lovely cream and I think it's loosely based on Humblebee & Me's Calamine Zinc cream. I make with lavender and calendula infused sunflower oil and it's scented with lavender essential oil.

Ignorant me...what do you use them for?

Asked and answered. :) As per post 15 of this thread, zinc creams/ointments have traditionally been used as a treatment for diaper rash (think Penaten or Zincofax) and other skin conditions. I can't make any medicinal claims so I just call it Zinc Creme.

Still working on my lotion bar recipe. But I think I've finally found one that my picky tester son and I both like. Tried making "all natural" but I didn't like the feel. So went back to the the soy/carnauba wax mix and IPM. It's the more yellowy square one. Thanks @Zing for your help (either directly or from reading your posts). And keeping ratios to 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 made all the differance :)

Now to send this on and the runner up out to friends for their opinions 🤔
