Newbie here, looking for a cp very low % coconut oil recipe. Decided to start making my own, since our kiddos developed itchy skin from other homemade cp coconut/olive oil soaps.

I am a recent convert to DIY from why try when u can buy. For over 2 months now, I have been making my own shampoo and using herbal tea and ACV for hair rinse and also have been making my own face moisturizer. But it's just all mixing liquid, shake and use. I am now ready to face a brave new world of soapmaking.

Just been reading a lot but intend to buy my ingredients, equipment and tools next week.

I would like to start making the most basic with just olive oil.

I look forward reading this forum, learning from all of you. Any tips before I hit the lab soap would be much appreciated!

Hello and welcome! :D

You’ll find a lot of tips and advice in the CP section. When I first joined the forum, I started at the very end of a section and read forward to the current posts. It took awhile but I learned so much! Not only did it answer many of my questions, I even found answers to questions I wouldn't have thought to ask. Below are some links to other sites which have information and tutorials. There are many more resources but these few will get you started.

For videos, I recommend both soapqueentv and soaping101.

Hello!

My name is Gina. I've been making soap for almost a year now. I make mostly hot process soap and have recently been experimenting with botanicals. I'm looking forward to learning new tips and tricks from pros!

Cheers!

Hi everyone. My name is Elise from San Diego. I'm new to soapmaking and am excited about learning more. :D I'm starting with the CP method.

Hi! I am really excited to join the SMF family. I think that there is nothing quite like getting advice/knowledge from others.

I have made a few candles already. It has been a very interesting process and although I find that I am learning more and more each time I make a batch -- I still have a lot to learn to get them to burn correctly.

Welcome to SMF :)

I'm a candleholic, but I gave up making candles to focus more time on soaping.

Hi everybody, I'm brand new here, and so new to soap making that I haven't made my first batch yet, however I have been dreaming and scheming about it for years. I finally have everything I need together and I'm about to get started...after Monday (my last final exam for the semester Yay!) I'm so glad to see everybody here, and I can't wait to have time to browse everyone's awesome posts! :D

Hello all, I'm new to your site. I might even read the instructions from time to time. Feel free to call me Lou.

If my connection doesn't drop out again I may post something about using chicken fat to make soap. That's how I found this in the first place...

Hi. My name is Amanda and I'm in Tulsa, OK. I don't make soaps, but I started making my own lotion and body butters about a year ago, and I recently jumped into the world of deodorant. I've got eczema pretty bad and I got tired of how poorly the commercial grade garbage worked. I also got tired of breaking out in really horrible rashes with stuff that was "guaranteed" to work. Once I started making my own, my friends started begging me to make some for them, so here I am.

I've been lurking and reading a lot and I'd better post too.... I've got more soap than I care to admit curing on a sweater drier in my closet, and plans to make more!

Hi! Just joined and was given a bar of homemade soap for Christmas and am hooked! I made my first batch of M&P today and plan on making several more tomorrow. Can not wait to try out the hot and cold process soap also. Am open to any and all tips.

Hello,
I'm a farmer, farmers wife and mom to three boys. I love making goat milk soap with the fresh milk from my herd of goats. I try to add as many farm grown ingredients as possible (lavender, wildflowers, honey, fruits, etc), to create beautiful bars of soap. You can learn more about my farm and what I do here (or not ) www.shamrockfarm.ca
I look forward to participating on SMF. Looks like a wonderful place!
Cheers,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,

Welcome to the forum!

It looks like it's a wonderful farm. I think the picture of the lit jack o' lanterns is awesome!
