I finally tested the Triple Rice Soap I made for the December Un-Challenge. I was shocked by the abundance of bubbles of all sizes. It’s a winner! @Dawni - thank you for the inspiration ❤️

This sounds like it would be an amazing soap....I'm thinking I'm going to save my 'rice wash' water using distilled water this time). I always rinse my rice before cooking and the water can be used for all sorts of things, but soap making with it I had never thought of!

You'll love it. It's a good seller for me and I love using it, too.

@Misschief Last night, per one of your posts, I soaked 1/3 cup organic jasmin rice in 1 1/3 c distilled water for about 4 hours, then drained and saved the liquid. Then, I added 3 c more distilled water to the rice and boiled/simmered until it was mushy and couldn't see the water anymore. After I stickblended the mush til it was very Elmer's gluish, I realized I have WAY more puree than I do of the rinse water! What do you do with the extra puree that you freeze?
My rinse/soak water and puree are frozen into cubes until I have time to actually make soap. I just cannot decide what recipe to use for this. Will the rice water and puree (and rice flour) harden the soap more than what the recipe numbers show in the soap calc?

I keep the extra puree frozen for the next time I make the soap (thank you for the reminder! I need to make more). I don't know that the rice helps with harder bars; I think that depends more on your base recipe than anything else. It does seem to add a silkiness to the bar.

That's the thing: If I have extra puree for next time, won't I have even more later because I'll need more rinse/soak water? Seems like this will snowball into always having too much puree and not enough rice water. Am I missing something here?

Thank you! I wanted to make sure the rice doesn't behave like salt does in soap. I'm guessing this will behave more along the lines of a sugar in soap.

You don't need the rinse/soak water. You can just use plain water, especially if your puree is on the thicker side. There's still plenty of rice water in the puree.
