just made some spearmint soap. i used the titanium dioxide to whiten up a bit and while i'm happy w/ the color of the white......there are some small specks of TD visible in the soap. the smell is wonderful as i used some spearmint eo....just a little as i had heard it can be irritating to sensitive areas  i will just use these at home as the little white specks make these less than perfect, but there really aren't too many of them, it could have been a hole lot worse. does spearmint eo discolor to brown at all? or do the leaves? there are some areas that look a bit brownish instead of green on top of the soaps, where i sprinkled the spearmint.

Spearmint EO won't discolor, but the leaves can turn brown in the soap, that's probably what you're noticing.

Nice soap!

That's the TD monster, we mentioned earlier...lol. I think they look great! Don't sweat it. Try the other way (stick blending it into your oils before the lye) next time and see if it mixes better for you.

Nice job!

You'll have better luck with your TD if you mix it with a small amount of your oils (about a tablespoon) in a separate dish first. Mash it up into the oil until it is completely dissolved, then pour it into the rest of your oil and it will blend in smoothly.

This goes for all oxide colorants! If you try to mix them into the full amount of oil in your soap pot, you'll have a harder time chasing the bits around your pot and mixing them in.
