Mine is a 12 bar cutter but I always cut 18 bars on it. It's actually quite easy but maybe it's just me.
My 12-bar cutter is also too short for my soap loaves. The top handle on my cutter is constructed to allow the longer piece to hang off the edge of the cutting deck, so there is no issue.

I do see what @Cindy D. Is saying, that the Bud’s cutter handle doesn’t allow for this. The solution for loaves that are longer than the cutting deck is to cut off any excess length before placing the remainder of the loaf on the cutter. A Hercules or other loaf splitter is ideal for this, but a bench scraper-type of soap cutter will also work.

I went ahead and ordered the multi bar cutter from Bud Hafner. It looks really good. I also want the Herc from Custom Crafts. But that one will have to wait. Budget cuts and all that. Lol Thank you all for helping me decide.
I bought Bud’s multibar cutter about 4 years ago. It is very well made, worth the money!

I also have a Buds multi bar cutter that I love. I started out with a cutter similar to a cheese cutter and could never get consistent straight cuts. I’m glad I have it though as I do use it for cutting some designs.

Do you have any good recommendations for a high quality cutter? I'm not looking to break the bank, but the $20 slicer I bought will simply not be effective unless I make massive modifications to it. Lol
There are a lot of cutters on Etsy, I purchased mine from Bud Haffner. https://www.etsy.com/shop/budhaffner?ref=yr_purchases

I have molds, a single cutter and a multi-cutter that does about a dozen 1 1/2" bars. You can look at Etsy for cutters. I got my best one from Bud Haffner: https://www.etsy.com/shop/budhaffner?ref=yr_purchases

When I decided I wanted to try making loaves of soap instead of only using individual cavity molds, I wasn't sure if I'd like it and didn't want to invest a lot of money to find out. I kid you not, I started lining graham cracker boxes in lieu of a loaf mold. I quickly discovered I love it and had DH make me a wooden loaf mold, but I wanted a better method of cutting so I bought a cheese cutter that I easily modified. No nails or screws or power tools. I put a strip of masking tape down and glued (plain ole Elmer's white glue) the wooden piece to the masking tape so I can remove it if I ever need/want to. I then added masking tape, drew a 1 inch mark and taped over it with clear packing tape. I folded the ends under just a bit in case adjustments are needed. Works great. Yes, the length of my soap loaves are longer than my board, but a book or other item that has a level flat surface of about the same height works just fine to hold the other end of my loaf until enough bars have been cut.
