Hi im from the uk, i have been making cp soap for 10 years now, but im behind the times and now getting problems with the finish of my soap. I have been using a slotted spoon to stir my soap, all was fine until it broke. I now have a wooden spoon, but the smoothness has gone from my finished soap. I was wondering if a hand blender would be the way to get a smooth finish that stays once it has cured, any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way i love all the photo's of your soap on here, you guys are amazing.

I would be using a S/S spoon, as small wood particals can break off your wooden spoon and end up in your soap. I stick blender is ideal if not using a spoon and you can just stir when it's not on. I've always had a smooth soap when using a SB.

Welcome to the forum! I second what Relle said about using a stainless steel spoon or stickblender. I use a stickblender that has a removable stainless steel shaft. .

Thank you Hazel, thank you so much for your reply's, i thought the spoon thing was a problem ! I only make very small 2lb batches, ingredients are so expensive these days. Anyway i will take your advice and get a stainless steel spoon and a stick blender, again thank you. :D
