who has taken the soap guild exam? do you find it is something that adds to your credentials? i rely on soapcalc and such for my formulations, but if i had to i could do the calcs myself. i like not having to think about that part. not sure really what the exam consist of,but assuming that is a big portion.

what are your thoughts on this whole thing? do you have personal membership or bussiness. is it worth everything?

thanks,
renee

I have a membership with the Guild because I do believe it adds credibility to what I do in the public's eyes. I haven't taken their exams and since I'm in Canada that would be rather difficult for me to do even if I had the time. In the States you can get your insurance through them which is a strong benefit.

Once you become a member, there are practice tests available, so you'll know what to expect. They're now doing exams using proxies, so you no longer have to be at the conference to take them.

Membership does add credibility to your business, & you can purchase insurance from them which is specific to soapmaking and b&b - something everyone should have if they're selling.

thanx, someday i would love to go to their convention, it looks like a blast

Oh yeah, that's on my wish list, too. If it's ever held closer to me...

I'm not a member of the Guild........yet, BUT I am a member of the Guild Facebook page!!!! Close!

I requested the free magazine they offer to see if I want to become a member. Just to see if it's worth it. (which I'm sure it is)
I have't received the magazine yet though...
