SMF November 2024 Challenge - Hello Yellow!

A reminder that the entry thread will open tomorrow (11/18) and will remain open through 11/24. And another reminder to include a picture of your split batter if your design doesn't clearly show 50% of your soap batter is yellow. I'm excited to see what everyone has been working on.

Oh snap! I was hoping to squeeze in a soaping session for this. I’ve had a design rolling in my head for a few months now that aligns with this challenge and I just got a new yellow. Not sure if I can make it happen, and I can’t wait to see all the entries!

I might not be able to do the challenge all my soaping oils I ordered aren't here yet Canada Post is on strike so I may not receive my stuff on time I also ordered a mold to make embeds first and it's not here yet either. So we will have to hope it gets here soon.

My dividers don't do a 75% split. They do thirds instead. So, I gotta regroup and rethink. I might not make it again

My soap supplier is sending my stuff through a private carrier I think they're doing it for alot of customers because of the Canada Post strike. I thought this is so nice of them. So I will get my oils in time in 2 days. But I won't get my mold in time so I won't be able to decorate the top of my soap the way I wanted too!

Made my soap, cut, took pics! I'm not sure I have the patience or sensibility to REALLY enter into the spirit of the challenge, since I can't be bothered to set up better photos than the first few I snapped ... maybe I'll become more of an instagrammer in the next couple days and take some better ones. Still-- this was so fun to work on.

But you only need 50% of the batter to be yellow. One section on the left and one on the right in yellow (66%), with another color or shade in the middle @ 33%.

First time I read the rules I swore it said 75% yellow! Now I see 50%.

@GuacamoleSalad I feel you - taking photos is sometimes harder than making the soap Enter anyway!!

I wanted to do a design with multiple yellows so I ordered micas which then got delayed in the mail they’re expected to arrive on the 22nd now, so I’m not sure I’ll have enough time to soap and cut but I’m trying to keep hoping.

I may do a backup soap tomorrow just in case.

Oh my I here you! I hope you get to finish on time. My self I ordered a mold from the USA at the beginning of the month like the day the new challenge came out and it's still not here Friday will be 3 weeks waiting for it I won't get to use it now. It's some where in NY I'm in BC Canada it's still very very far away.

I just love the bees too! Bet that took quite a bit of time! Well done.

@dibbles thank you! I really had fun with the yellow and if it wasn't for the challenge I never would have thought of the bees. It took awhile to figure out how to make bees out of what I had. But they are pretty easy if anyone wants to make them. A half circle for the head, the rectangle shape 2 black and 1 yellow, and then the triangle for the tail, then the tear drop shape for the wing.
@Firefly24 thank you! It took longer to make the embeds than it did to make the soap, but it was mostly the flowers that kept falling apart.
