Can I please get some suggestions/opinions on my African Black Soap. It's an awesome soap I really like it. But like ABS goes it does melt quickly so i've always been told when i've bought it in the stores to piece it out. So I thought I should sell it by the piece? Any thoughts? Maybe by 2oz square bars? Thanks all!

YOUR African Black Soap? Hmmmm. Do you make this? Are you a traditional woman in Ghana who fair trades her traditionally-made soap? If not, I see no reason to believe it is yours. Are you a re-seller trying to market ABS? If so you obviously have a whole lot more researching to do. You need to give the hard-working women of Ghana their fair due in any event. You have not given us enough information to even evaluate your question. Please elaborate.

Sorry if I have offended you in some way this wasn't my intention, I'm not new to this forum, I've been here for a while, I don't talk much. My information was reset. Again sorry. As for ownership of MY soap, it was crafted by ME in my home, I did not in any way say that I was trying stake claim over a recipe that no one owns, and if I were to buy and sell soap from a store that would be my business. I was only seeking advice as many people do in this fine forum, on cutting my bars since I wanted to sell them as facial bars. If you're upset and feel like I have no right to make this soap because I'm not from Ghana and I should give these women and who knows maybe even men??? their fair due maybe you should strip off all of your worldly belongings and head to china and give the hard working women, men, and children their fair due. In any event if you didn't mean to come off so rude and condescending you should have given me more information as to evaluate your comment.

Ty Ma'am and have a lovely day!

Yes, what is the deal with the soap? I haven't heard of it, actually.

I do like 2 oz bars. In fact, my whole line is 2 oz bars. I'm not familiar with this type soap, so have no idea how it should be priced.

My African American friends turned me on to it at some local beauty stores here. And my friend Jamie who's African American and swears by it, got married last year and I threw her a bridal shower and wanted to buy her soap as favors...well long story short i fell in love with the idea of soap making! A few months ago she begged me to try and make her some Black soap, because she was sick of buying at it at 10$ for 5 oz. I did alot of research on the topic, they use alot of the same additives as most soap makers use, but in addition they add plantain ask. I also believe there are other options. I used plantain. I had alot of fun with it. Some of the skin care benefits include firming of the skin, clearing up blemishes and is even good for babies!. It's deff not localized to GHANA ....So says the name "AFrican" LOL People all over the world use it. I think it's great. I know many soapers who make it. Everyone I know adds there own lil twist to it though. But most stay true to the raw shea and ash whether it be wood, coconut, or plantain. :) HOpe this was informative. I would deff do more research into it...like with most soaps skies the limit!! SOAPS BEFORE BROS!

I have to admit the marketing of African Black Soap is one of my pet peeves in terms of its name. Didn't mean to sound off, but had no idea you were making this yourself. There are so many creative names you could come up with that would make it truly your own and not to be confused with the authentic soap of that name. Have you considered that?

Here's a little info for those of you curious about what ABS is:
