He actually doesn't care. I just like to shop when he's gone. :D

LOL does he whine in the grocery store too? Mine does! "Why does it take so long to find meat!!!" or "Just pick one and lets go!"

LOL! You totally crack me up. I don't take him with me. I'm too bossy!

Hehehe. I can get quite frustrated going grocery shopping during the day. Too many people clogging up the aisles makes me nuts, so we usually go at night. Luckily, our grocery store is open until 11pm each day, which rocks.

Yes, night time is the perfect time to grocery shop. I haven't been grocery shopping in 3 weeks. No joke. That's how bad I hate it. DH hates it even more so really I'm sparing him the pain. I've resorted to making comments to rude people. I can't help it! More to myself if anything. Need to stop that!

I hope you find all of your oils, colorants, additives, and whatever else! It's so nice to have everything so that you can make any recipe you want.

x

:D and don't forget the chocolate! :D

i mean, seriously, how can you soap without chocolate? (for personal consumption, of course!) LOL!

how about white chocolate raspberry truffles, or dark chocolate covered blueberries and cherries?

life goes more smoothly with chocolate!

Only 3 weeks? Man, I haven't been grocery shopping in two months. Not because I hate it, but more because of money issues. At least we ended up eating all the food stored in the freezer! lol. Lots more room now :)

Ooooh I would love to chomp on some chocolate right about now. Milk chocolate Lindor chocolates... that's what I want!

:D btw, one last thought: if you buy sunflower or safflower oil get the
HIGH OLEIC kind. it is less prone to rencidity.

i also use bittersweet chocolate squares in my goat'smilk soap i think the ghiradelli is the best but any will work. melt it with your oils. i use one small square per pound of oil. :D

Bananas? Really? How would you use them? Just mash them up and add them at trace? I love almonds, but I want to be able to give some of my soap to my Mom to try out. Avocado, I'm allergic to. If I eat guacamole I swell up like a balloon and get itchy hives.

Ganiggle, seriously, we are having a big time shopping for you:) but if I were you I would stick to some really simple recipes for the first time. So you can get a feel for it and see how different oils come to trace and many other things. Soaping is so extensive! You never seem to stop learning or experimenting, but I hate to see you spend a bunch of money until your sure and have a good basic recipe to play off of.
Not trying to dampen your spirit....go for what your comfortable with and just keep all these other goodies in mind for future fun :)

Hehe I know :) I have a good idea of what I'm going to buy already. Like lard, olive oil, etc. My first batch it curing in the basement right now, and I'm just super excited to make more, more MORE! lol! I have a really bad habit of going overboard when I find something I enjoy. But luckily, finances won't allow me to go too crazy... this time mwahaha!

Those are groceries aren't they?? Hahahaha

Oh ok Top-Ramen and Mac & Cheese for a week!

I'm baaaack!

I got:
Canola Oil
Grapeseed Oil
Lard
Olive Oil (Man this stuff is pricey!)
Safflower Oil
Sunflower Oil
Honey
Oats (rolled, I hope that's the right kind!)
A whisk
A nicer mixing bowl
Mortar and Pestle

I see soap making in my future tonight :)

Whoopee!! You'll be dreaming of soap all night now!

Olive oil is pricey. I use it wisely. I try to sub in sunflower or safflower when I can.

Two things...some of the people on here say that canola is bad for getting DOS...just throwin' that out there. I've never used it, so I have no experience with it. Also - If you're near a Sam's Club, I get olive oil there (the member's mark brand) for $17 for 3 liters.

I don't feel so bad now about my olive oil. Target has 3L for $20, which is what I bought and now really low on!

What's DOS mean? lol. No Sam's club here, are they even in Canada? I just got 1L and it was $8!

Oh, ew! Well I don't want that. Luckily it wasn't expensive, so if that happens to me it won't be as big a loss. I can always use it for cooking!
