I'm just trying to wrap my head around mixing milk with lye
So, I'm freezing the whole amount of milk, needed in my formula to a slushy stage, then add lye to it and mix it. Let it cool down and mix it with my oils, am I correct?
I like the color Honey and oats will make it drker - the second picture is just goat milk and oil.
You can do it two ways. Get the milk slushy and slowly add the lye to the milk. Watch the temp and don't let it get past 100 to 110ish to keep the color light. If it heats up to much then stir and wait until the temp comes back down before you add more lye. The higher the temp goes the darker the milk will get. It will take a while. I usually put the container I am mixing the lye/milk in a bucket of ice water to keep it cool. It will be hard and time consuming.
Another way is freeze half the milk into cubes and the other half slushy this way if the temp goes too high you can add some of the frozen milk cubes. You would alternate lye and frozen milk cubes.
Hope this helps. I wasn't too clear last time
