This is the last pine tar batch. Maybe. This was 10% pine tar but now I'm curious as to what 20% would do. Hmm.
Here's a pic of the pine tar container just in case some are more visual than others in their purchase searches. Yes, I've resized as some get truly aggravated with me over the size of the pics posted.
Anyway, here tis:
As for the batch #3, well, there is a story that goes along with it, of course. First the story.
The Mysterious Far Far Eastern Sometimes Soap Assistant and Mother of my Children was at work and The Lovely Hand Model in Training was at school so I was on my own. Not always the best scenario.
My intention was to make a very simple recipe, increase the percentage of pine tar, no fragrance or anything else. Yep, simple, straight forward.
Being known for self discipline in several areas is not one of the hallmarks of my personality, but things went quite well until I glanced up at the window sill (hand stirring - stirstirstir) and spotted a small dropper bottle (stirstirstir) with a Bramble Berry label "Non-Bleeding Cherry".
Still hand stirring and thinking, "This is going well, slow to trace, wonder if I have time?" OF COURSE YOU DO!
Stopped stirring, grabbed the bottle, loosened the cap, threw it in the microwave, quick 10 seconds, took it out, shakeshakeshake because of problems read that someone else had.
Back to the sink, put in a few drops. Hm. Boy, that 10% pine tar is DARK. Little more color. Hm. Nothing. Stirstirstir. Ohh, put some more in. Stirstirstir.
Tell me when it's safe to come out! :x
DANG! Still dark.
Ok, go for it.
(Careful measurement) ONE MISSISSIPPI, TWO MISSISSIPPI, AND JUST A LITTLE MORE. I love science!
stirstirstir! A little color.
Hey, how about a little salt, just for grins. Gotta be quick. Where's my measuring spoons? Ok, how much. Well, just put a great big teaspoon in and a little bit more. It's only 22 ounces. Ok done.
Quick, stir!
AHRRG! Turn on the oven! Forgot it! Quick, ok, got it.
Hey, let's go electric!
WOW! LOOK AT THAT COLOR! UHOHHHHH! Trace coming pretty quick now.
Pour

Hey, this might not be too bad.
Quick, take a picture or Hazel will be whining here big time.
Whew! In the oven.
And many of you thought that perfection was only attained through great organization! HAH! 8) What a fun hobby!
