Hello all!

Does anyone have any experience with legitimate pine essential oils? A while ago I found one on Amazon that I really liked the smell of, but that was before I knew how to recognize fake vs real essential oils!

And if you do, I’m looking for recommendations! I know it’s expensive, but I’m trying to find the most affordable option while still maintaining a good scent.

In case it matters, this is for a cold, processed pine tar soap recipe!

I have used NDA's pine longleaf in CP soap. Performs well.
Good to know! I do love NDA and they have good prices, but their shipping went up even higher for me ($15 two months ago to $21) Might be worth it though if that's the best one!

My recommendation is to buy from a trusted soap supplier company. I get most of my essential oils from Bramble Berry. And I like their sample sizes before you commit to a huge bottle.

I may yuck your yum here but I do not like the scent of pine essential oil in soap. I was really excited to use pine -- but it ended up smelling pinesol-y/nursing-home-y. I MUCH prefer fir needle essential oil.

Having said that, I do not know what it would smell in combination with pine tar. Pine tar alone is a very strong scent. I love it!

And good luck with pine tar! That stuff is trippy!

When I used pine it was always in combination with other scents, thus avoiding the pinesoly scent.

Thanks everyone!

I made a 50% pine EO, 25% cedarwood EO, 25% orange in my last pine tar soap and it smells AMAZING. But that was all with the cheap EOs off Amazon before I knew better!

I can try a fir smell too, just send me your favorite places to get that and I'll check them out too!

Has anyone every used VineVida company? They seem to have really good prices and all the important things like certificate of analysis.... but TOO cheap prices make me wary!

Tthey're long on hype and quackery. They started in 2017, declare themselves one of the leading essential oil sellers, and list "uses & benefits".. targeting the unwary DIY'er.

The worst though is they tout various oils as having medical uses like cancer treatment.

That's unethical as well as bad science.

Thanks for sharing that so I don't have to do that digging, LOL!!! New Directions it is!
