Ocean water is free, natural and you can get a lot of it (if you're near an ocean anyway...). I did a little research and it appears that it's ~3% salt... it's not a lot but you can't beat the price :D
Next time I can get a family member to grab me a bucket of it, I'm going to run a batch using it as the water for the lye/water.

Just a friendly idea I wanted to share

I live a block from the ocean and I have used sea water for my water and it is really nice.....not enough salt to do much to the soap though except to make the ingredient list sound way cool..... :p

I know that some people use a little bit of salt to add hardness to their soap bars. Do you think that the salt water would contain enough salt to lend any hardness?

I wonder what those that do use salt do with it - dissolve it in the lye water I presume?
So they must have to use more than I thought for it to be effective!

I have used salt to harden a recipe. It is disolved in the water before the lye is added. And actually the usage is only about 1/4 -1 tsp salt PPO. You wouldn't think it would make a big difference at that rate, but it does.
