Hi and welcome to the forum!

I don't do HP so I'm not much help. I suspect that you cooked it for too long but I'm not an expert.

If you could post your recipe and method that you used, it would help us to help you.

Hey hi its nice to be in the forum
Thank u for stopping by
I did double boiler method
And my reciepe is
12oz of castor oil
1.5 oz of lye
3.5oz of water
I cooked it too long and i think is nt even saponified as i used it after 24hrs i got itching in my hands
So i think its not saponified and i had kept high flame
And soo i guess it got dried up
I dont knw where ro get other different oils all are quite expensive and i was confused too
Many ppl use pomace olive oil but read an article about it that its not good to usexant use extra virgin olive oil

Castor oil is cheaper to try it out so though to go with it

And wanted to know which are the oils best to use for soap making and
Except zap test is there anyother test to know that the soap is saponified
Thank u

Hi!

a 100% castor oil soap is likely to be very soft and oily feeling. Also you used a superfat of only about 2% in your recipe so I'm not surprised that it is making you itch even though castor oil is very conditioning on its own.

Do you have access to either palm or coconut oil? Those in combination with olive oil (pomace is fine, you don't need extra virgin) and castor at about 5% of your recipe will make a nice soap.

There are good recipes at www.teachsoap.com and www.lovinsoap.com
