All soap calculators seem to have three options for the water calculations - Water and % of Oils, Concentration, or ratio. It is user's choice as to which of those they use. Most of us on here are advised by someone as newbies that the preference is for a lye concentration of around 33 - 35% for cold processed soap. But most of us also used too much water in our first few batches until someone told us that.

Back when I learned about the "33%" from SM posts, they included the consideration of your environment. Perhaps some of the forum members are in Iceland, and others Arizona. My understanding is that would bake a difference of at least a couple %points in the same recipe between those users.

But will the math change?
For example, hypothetically, if I enter everything with "ratio" clicked, then change it to % of oils, accidentally, before I print out, have the numbers changed? I've specifically asked about the accuracy of calculators before. Such a failing should have been part of a complete answer!

If they're the same, I just don't understand how one is "scientifically inaccurate' if the both result in the same #
