Magnesium carbonate

I have found on a French website a lady who makes her own deodorant with magnesium carbonate. There was a long thread on the Forum about using magnesium hydroxide for its deodorising virtues. For the chemists among you, is there a difference between magnesium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide in terms of deodorising properties?

If I remember right the common theme in all the experiments was the magnesium, it just differed a bit in what form it took.

I’m not a scientist (so please wait for one) but I think you should be able to use magnesium carbonate. You will probably need more depending on purity.
