I've been making my own vinegars from scratch over the past few months, which has been interesting and fun; so far, I've made apple cider vinegar, red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar, raisin vinegar, and beer vinegar (like a malt vinegar). I'm planning on making a couple of gift baskets for friends with whom we'll be celebrating Christmas but I'm at a loss as to what else to add to a gift basket. I'm thinking of a bottle or red wine vinegar and a bottle of white wine vinegar (8 oz each) and then what? Any ideas??

First of all, you are sooo talented; those look amazing!! 😍

Regarding the additional gifts, what about some specialty cheeses, crackers, olives, deli meats? These would be versions that don't need refrigeration until opened, of course.

Mmmm now I want a charcuterie board!

How's the malt? That sounds interesting.
It's actually pretty good. You can definitely smell and taste the maltiness of the beer. I have another one on the go as well, with a lighter beer. It does make me crave fish & chips, though.

Maybe a special olive oil to go with the vinegars?
I like that idea... and then, perhaps, a couple of packets of salad dressing dry ingredients with recipes included? (self made, of course).

Ooh, that sounds truly lovely! But AliOop's cheese and crackers sound good as well — with so many choices, I think I would have a hard time keeping the gift baskets down to a reasonable size! And your beautiful vinegars are so inspiring I've thought of a couple more things:
  1. a small jar of some local honey? Jan Berry (Nerdy Farm Wife) has some formulas for oxymels (syrups of honey & vinegar) on her website (scroll down the page a bit): Medicinal Vinegars & Oxymels
  2. a recipe for shrub (drinking vinegar)? I've been seeing these on the internet lately, and am thinking of trying one. The one in this video sounds easy and interesting, using white wine vinegar: Raspberry Shrub - How To Drink Vinegar
(edited to add missing links)

I did a basket a couple of years ago with cucumber pickles, olives, jam, relish, pickled onions, all handmade of course, you can make some shortbread or biscuits ahead of time, some mini puddings in a tiny cupcake wrapper, with fruitcake soaked in wine, roll into balls with a tiny piece of cherry on top and green icing for a leaf.
