Hello,

Does anyone have a good formula that I can use to add goat milk into the lip balms? I would like to add goat milk to them but trying to figure out how to do it since it would be an o/w combo. I would need to add e-wax and a preservative I think.

Thanks!

My concern would be using a preservative on a product that is going to get digested..... not really a good idea

you are right - you would need both an emulsifier and a preservative. but no, I have no ideas for how to achieve this

No, because dairy needs to be refridgerated even with a preservative.

I actually make a GM Lotion as well as a Cold Cream made with real dairy. I have had no problem with spoilage using preservatives and I have some that has been sitting around for 6 months now.

It just has to be processed correctly.....

i too have seen tons of lotions with goats milk.

About the concern of eating it. You can use potassium sorbate. A food preservative?

it's not that simple. potassium sorbate is water soluble so I don't know if it's appropriate in an emulsion that is primarily oil. also it is effective only within a narrow pH range, and in food is typically used in combination with sodium benzoate. also, you need to watch your temps with it.

Potassium sorbate is not a broad spectrum preservative for cosmetic use and should be combined with other preservatives. If potassium sorbate is used as a preservative, the pH of the finished product may need to be reduced for potassium sorbate to be effective.
