Soap peeps, this is soo far off topic but today we were privileged to view a documentary made by one of my work colleagues at a local film festival. My coworker is a people person and it shows in this film. She documents this man who leaves his Lakota reservation for the big city and then returns to the reservation. There are themes that are specific to the Lakota Nation and themes that are universal. He and his family's story will stay with me for quite some time. It portrays lots of humor and resilience and pathos, All the feels, as the kids say. It's an Indigenous story told by Indigenous story-tellers and worth hearing by all cultures.
I was born and raised in South Dakota, USA and love my friends and family and the big skies and amber waves of grain. And I did not learn a lot of my State history. This documentary is about a family and history and present-day -- and I am thankful for the power of film. Just FYI.
