Lip balm advice.

So I made a batch of butterscotch lip balm and I wanted to add colloidal oat meal to the recipe but I didn't know how much to put and I couldn't find that much info about it on line so I'd like to share that I used 10% colloidal oats of my recipe and my lip balm is very nice. At first I was going to try 5% but I wanted to try more and I added it to the double boiler right before taking it off the heat to give it a min to dissolve in the hot oils before taking it off the heat to add my flavoring. Then I added a nice bronze colored mica to it to make a lovely brown lip glosse. I just wanted to share this info in case others are wondering how much colloidal oats they can use.

Ohhhhhh butterscotch! Yum! I bet that is super nice in lip balm…. and candy… and and and…. Just yum!

I haven't tried it, only because all the flavors I have are pre-sweetened. But I do wonder if it would be a bit gritty since it won't dissolve in oil or butters.

Oh thanks I might skip it then. Google said it was a good ingredient to add to lip balm because it would sweeten it and also to add moisture to your lips. It said sorbitol keeps absorbing moisture out of the air or something like that. But one person said they tried it and that it didn't sweeten the lip balm that much either. I want to buy a chocolate flavor oil but it says I need to sweeten it. So I was curious about using sorbitol oh I just thought of something maybe the liquid sorbitol mixes, Amazon sells it. Well I don't think I will be ordering any though I just bought a big bag of powdered sorbitol ha ha it's huge lol enough to last a lifetime of soapmaking lol

I swapped out almost all my beeswax for cocoa butter. I hear it's hard to get these days. I'm almost finished the bag I got years ago Even with sweet almond oil, it would survive the clothes dryer. No clogged pore complaints either. Not quite chocolate, but, something to consider?

I've wanted to incorporate gold and/or silver in my balms if possible. Having only water based colloids to work with, I've been thinking about an emulsifier. I'd barely be adding more water based ingredients than emulsifier. But I'm not even sure I'll get there. Think it'd work for either of us?
