Disha,

It turned out pretty. It would help us troubleshoot if you'd post your recipe so we know what amounts you used and how long you cooked it in the double boiler. It's possible you didn't cook it long enough and there may still be some active lye. The burning sensation could be that it's lye heavy. Was the jasmine scent an FO? If you used too much for the batch size, you could be tasting the FO which might cause a burning sensation. I can't really say without having more info.

I agree with Hazel. Full recipe would help us to help you.

I once made a soap which I thought was fine but then I zap tested it and got this slow tiny burning sensation. I freaked out and remade the batch (it was for a swap). Only after the fact, did I have a "gosh I'm stupid" moment. The essential oil blend had clove oil in it and that was what my tongue was reacting to, not the lye.

The zap will feel like a sudden electric jolt, not a slow tingle. I don't know if that helps or not.

Thank you soo much for the help
I wanted to try for the last time using cator oil soap
Its 12 oz castor oil
Ley 1.5 oz
Water was 3.5 oz
I had taken jasmine flowers soaked in water and than blend in the blender and used that water
I cooked it for like 30-35 mins I still get burning sensation
And than added turmeric and sesame oil in it
But the soap is not moisturising at all and the soap bar is not soft
Today trying usinh 3 oils got pomace olve oil sunflower oil and castor
Lets c how does that turn out to be and will cook more today
Hope it turns out to be gud

How to remake the same soap
Can i rebatch this soap
If yes how can i do it

How much sesame oil did you add? This is important to determine how balanced your soap is.

Just calculating for your castor oil, this would have given you a 3% superfat which is cutting it pretty close.

I suspect two things:

The size of this batch is very small. The smaller the batch, the more critical accuracy is. The difference between 1.4 ounces and 1.6 ounces of lye is significant. 1.4 ounces is about 8% SF, 1.6 ounces would be about -1 or lye heavy.

If you are working with small amounts, it is best to use a digital scale that measures in grams for greater accuracy. It's possible that your scale may not be accurate.

When you calculate your recipe, if your lye amount does not come out to a round number, it is best to round down, not up!

I added 1tsp of sesame oil
But i dinn knw that i can round down
Can i rebatch it if yes how should i do how can i improve
Can i change the soap an dmake it proper

I don't understand. Are you saying your first batch was only 12 oz castor oil, 1.5 oz lye and 3.5 oz water and then you added 1 tsp of sesame oil? If your scales are accurate and you did use only 1.5 oz lye for the castor batch, it should be okay and won't be lye heavy. Generally, most soap is a bit drying when you first make it. You need to allow the batch to cure at least 3-4 weeks for excess water to evaporate and the soap to become milder. Then you did a second batch with pomace olive oil, sunflower oil and castor? If so, we still need to see the actual amounts you used for the second batch before being able to suggest anything or give advice.

30-35 minutes isn't enough time for hot process soapmaking. You have to cook it long enough so the batch goes through gel to ensure all the lye is used up. These sites talk about hot process and have pictures which show the different stages the batch goes through as it cooks.

Gracefruit's Hot Process Soap Tutorial

There is also this tutorial for HP on the stove. However, I'd recommend using a double boiler if you're only doing a small batch.

You're not going to be able to get a jasmine scent from blending the blossoms in water. The fragrance of jasmine is normally extracted by enfleurage and it requires a lot of flowers just to produce a small amount. Enfleurage

Thank u sooo much judy and hazel
Guidance from u both has really helped me a lot

Waiting for the olive oil pomace castor oil and sunflower oil soap to dry
Lets c how much time does itbtake to dry its 3 days still the soap has not dried

What do you mean by dried? Do you mean the soap bars have moisture on them or that the soap is still soft?

If the soap is still soft, it's hard to say since you've used 3 soft oils and I don't know what percentages you used for each oil. The soap is going to take longer to become firm enough because of these oils. If you're asking how long to let the soap cure, olive will eventually become harder but it can take months. Both sunflower and castor do not contribute to hardness so again it may require several months for the soap to harden if you used a high percentage of them in the batch.

You're welcome but I don't know how much we've helped you. It's hard to give advice without know how much of each oil you used and not being able to see the soap.

The Jasmine turmrric soap which i made i gave it to my sister to try she flet her hands got clean
Bt when i use it i get itching may b my skin is sensitive does it mean that
And the 3rd soap which i made is
This olive oil pomace 4 oz
Sunflower oil 4oz
Castor oil 4 oz
1.6 oz of lye
3.7 oz of water
And dried meaning its just not getting hard i cant even unmould it
And i notice that the heat distribution for making soap in double boiler is not well
I kept kn low flame to the lowest may be it is getting heated too much and so not cooked well
This soap went thru a gel stage and got translucent too
I cooked for about 1hr 35 mins
And today when i clicked pics to post it i happen to touch the gel which is not yet dried i got a burning sensation
On my thumb
Yes judy n hazel im very thankful 2 u both for the help
All the tips have helped ao much i guess i will get crock pot only now

Disha,

I agree with judymoody. Your batches are very small so accuracy in weighing is very, very important. The olive pomace, sunflower and castor batch is only 12 ounces and you used 1.6 oz of lye. When I checked this on SoapCalc, it came up as -1 superfat. If the scales are off, it's possible it could be slightly lower or higher. Since you said it burned you, then I'd say it's definitely lye heavy. I really recommend you start weighing in grams for more accuracy if you don't want to make larger batches.

BTW, you shouldn't have gel after cooking it so long. I'd say it is just very soft soap but give it several weeks and it will get harder. Another thing you should do is allow the soap to cure several weeks. Hot process soap can be used shortly after being made but it can still be a little harsh and drying. Curing for 2-3 weeks not only allows for excess water to evaporate but the soap also becomes milder.

As for the jasmine turmeric soap causing your hands to itch - let it cure a couple of weeks and then try it. It should be milder. If it does still seem to be causing a itchy sensation, then I'm wrong about it not being lye heavy or you might be sensitive to something in the soap like the turmeric or even the jasmine. I don't know for sure and I'm just guessing. You might have some other people try it in a couple of weeks and see if they find it to be irritating.
