Hello all,

I ordered some liquid germall plus for liquid soap. It is very thick and honey-like. I’m finding it a challenge to add small amounts to small test batches. Has anyone tried, or does anyone know, if pre-diluting and storing a known amount would interfere with the chemistry or safety? It would be easier to measure out 5 grams of pre-diluted solution than .5 grams of honey-like goo.

Thanks,

I have not heard of anyone diluting LGP (Liquid Germall Plus) and then keeping that diluted product for a time. I agree with how difficult it is to measure small amounts accurately. I've used a toothpick to pick up drops of the LGP, but it's still tricky.

I doubt anyone here can definitively answer your question. I'd contact the manufacturer or supplier to verify if LGP can be diluted, stored, and still remain effective over time. And what liquid would be best as the diluent. A workaround would be to dilute only enough LGP to meet my needs in the short term.

In other words, weigh out a tiny bit more LGP than is strictly needed for the product(s) I'm making that day, dilute the LGP enough so it can be measured easier, and then do the math to figure out how much of that diluted LGP I need to add to the soap or whatever. Discard the remainder of the diluted LGP at the end of the day.
