iam new to cp, i have a nice wood mold with slats for cutting, but how do some get the nice edges on their soaps? i tried rubbing, pot. peeler etc. whats the trick?

I use Paul's 8 wire bar cutter to cut my bars nice and straight, and then I use a potato peeler to clean up the sides and bottom of each bar so they're nice and smooth.

I also smooth the edges of the soap with my fingers just after I cut and trim it, while it's still a bit soft.

I now use a Logan Bear divider mold (before that it was my trusty Kelsie divider mold). I no longer bevel the edges but use a carpenters' tool to make lovely rounded corners. But a beveler works - better than a peeler IME (tho practice probably would make perfect).

Cutting slab soap perfectly is NOT my forte!

I use Paul's great cutter to cut my soaps. Then I use a beveler. I really like beveled edges. I got my beveler from Soap and More for $20.00. I much prefer the beveler to a peeler. I never could cut straight and even with a peeler.

I use a good old fashion tattie (potato) peeler. I wonder that is your soap looks too perfect it looses it's handmade appeal, what's wrong with the odd wonky bevelled edge? Proves a person made it IMO

that might work for you, but not for me, and in this area the "rustic" look doesn't fly.

perfection can be hand made...

Another reason why I use a beveler is because if I use a peeler or knife, I end up wasting too much soap. The beveler removes just the right amount.
