HI everyone

I posted some time back about avocado oil and it hasn't gotten any better at all. Same issue with the oils just not blending. I am haivng a floating island and I never have that with any of our other bars. A floating oil and tons of oil.

I know people said use coconut oil and such to make it harder but I still got a crumbly bar, with floating bit and this is HP and it cooks FOREVER. geez...

Olive oil, avocado, and sunflower are my oils choices. Does high oleic sunflower oil during HP cooking make a big difference if I'm using just regular pure sunflower oil?
Because I'm using regular sunflower. and think that might be my mistake ?? but it didn't affect my other bars...darn it!!! help again pls :)

pics of what you are talking about might be very helpful in getting a good response. i am having a hard time picturing what you are talking about. :)

Thanks Krissy! Really appreciated! I am feeling SO frustrated....

I mean I had floating saponified bits of oils and then tons of floating liquid oils....and even rduced my avocado to a small percentage like 8% of base oils.

to me it looks like you don't have enough lye for the amount of oils u are using.
what point in the cook does it look like that? are you using the oven or a crock pot? maybe post your exact recipe too?

when mine has looked like that, i cooked it longer and then stick blended it again and see if it holds together, if not i let it keep cooking. then repeat until it stays mixed. but that is if your recipe is right. :)

hope this helps some...

oh and the island in the middle is usually unsaponified oils, not soap. :D

I had this happen to me once during HP soapmaking. I used the stick blender again when the separation started to happen and it all came together and the soap was fine and safe to use. I'm not sure why it happens as it has only happen once to me... I wish I could be of more help. Good luck.

P.S. Post your recipe if possible it will give us a better idea of what could be going wrong.

I'm just thinking I'll just have to adjust the whole recipe and had harder oils....I kind of have given up on the specific combination I was aiming for. Let me think about it. I am so unsure!
