Homemade Soap Stamp

Hey gang. I read an article online about how to create a custom soap stamp using soap as a die with epoxy resin. Here's the carved soap/die compared to the actual logo or my church. This took me all of about 20 minutes, and I'm the least artsy person alive. I'll post pictures as well of the casting process. My question is WHEN do you stamp the darn soap? Do you have to use slab molds and do it withing a few minutes/hours of pouring? Can you stamp cut pieces when you cut them, or do you wait a few days after cutting?

I get my soap stamps from China too. Not via ebay though.

Well, it's poured but now that I look at it, I just learned my first lesson. The stamp has to be UPSIDE DOWN!!! I am an idiot!

I have been meaning to do this but I keep forgetting to buy the resin when I am in town. Then I remind myself the I still need to CARVE anyway, Hahaha! I will get around to it someday.

what o you mean upside down? Like backwards?

Yes. Like a mirror image.

Well, I think if you used the soap you showed as the moldable piece, it would stamp that way.... but, it sems like you would have an indention in your soap opposite. So maybe you needed to carve the church logo into your die instead of carve out around it. Is that what you mean?

YES! You are absolutely right. Ignore my previous comment. It's fine like it is. (I never claimed to be bright, just eager). I'll post a few pics later but so far so good.

Here's the resin in the mold and a later picture of the unmolded stamp. Sorta reminds me of my kids when they were born...gunked up and gnarly and needs to be cleaned up before I want to show it off to anybody, but you guys are basically family, so....

First Impression

Ok, Super Soapers, here it is. The first impression using my homemade soap stamp. The soap was just cut today, so lesson learned, let it cure a few days. And the line in the soap from from my trying to clean it up...not the mold. Long story short, this is so easy its almost funny.
