Hello, my name is Patti and I am a newbie to the Soap Making Forum but not a newbie to making soap. I started out as a melt and pour soapmaker and quickly moved on to cold and hot process varieties. I have been making soap for about 12 years now and I still love the hobby!
My latest venture is making beer soaps. My fiance and I are homebrewers and I can hardly wait with every new batch we brew to save some of the wort to prepare for a new batch of soaps! I am working on getting a website set up for my soaps and trying to have it up and going about the time all my soaps are cured and ready for sale.
We are in a homebrew club (actually we were founding members) and the members of the club have been my guinea pigs for trying out my soaps and they also help me to name them. So far, they have all loved the soaps I have made using pale ales, stouts, outmeal stouts, and irish red ale. I have another one that I have added ground up pellet hops for extra aroma and also includes a few chopped fresh hops to the soap just before pouring it into the mold. It smells so delightful!
I am so happy to find this forum dedicated to soap making! I am so looking forward to reading the posts and chatting with other members. :D

Welcome! I'm from Baton Rouge. It's nice to have another Louisiana soaper on the board. We love photos, so please share pics. :)

Hi Patti,

Welcome! I like beer soap and so does my family and friends. However, I only use cheapo brews. Your selection of beers sound wonderful! Please post pics. I'd love to see these soaps. :D

Hi Hazel....cheapo beers work just fine! It just so happens that since I am in a homebrew club, we have plenty of homebrewers who are willing to turn over a bottle of their newest brews for me to try in a soap blend. Keeps me with a variety of choices. It's always exciting to see what turns out! :D
Here is pic of one of my products that I have packaged and also some other varieties. You can obviously tell which ones have stout beer liquid...they are very dark. That one smells very toasty and almost chocolatey.

Nice soap and great pics! Welcome! There are some homebrewers on here also (not me). Bruce (Bigmoose) is a homebrewer and has an Etsy beer soap shop.

Your soap sounds wonderful!

They look wonderful. I like stout but it's sooo filling. To be fair, I should say I like the stout that a brewery that's about an hour from us brews. It's the only stout I've had and that was a few years ago. I think the place is called Salty Dog but I might be wrong about the name. You could go in and have dinner and sample their different brews.

I was a little bit tipsy and don't remember much.

The closest breweries to where I live are down in S. Louisiana - Abita and over in Fort Worth Texas - Rahr. Both of those breweries have some tasty brews. I have to admit though that the homebrew my honey and I make is really the best! Definitely the freshest! :p
