I am a very arty-crafty person and so I thought I would have a go at making soap. I do some craft markets and love the idea of being able to sell pretty homemade scented soaps...but so far everything has been a disaster....can someone please tell me where I am going wrong?
Last night I tried to make coconut oil, olive oil and lavender soap. I know I put slightly the wrong amount of water in it because I messed converting US measurements to UK measurement but I tried to work with it...and it was a mess. It looked like lumpy French salad dressing - gloopy and oily and it just would not trace (and I used a blender). So I googled and tried to save it using the HP...I warmed it over a pan of simmering water in another pan over the top..and it just looked burnt, like the oil was sitting at the top and there was a sludge of ever increasingly darker brown grit at the bottom. Chucked that away.
Tried again this morning being ever so careful to get everything exact and precise and exactly the same thing happened. It thickened slightly but no trace...not after an hour with a hand blender. Now it’s sitting in a crock (slow cooker) and I have no idea how it will turn out. Does anyone have any ideas please? X
