Hi!
I am new to soaping and will be purchasing my supplies over the next week or so. I am excited to start a new hobby!

I have done so much research and reading that my eyes feel like they are bugging out of my head :D

I read through several pages and did a few searches before deciding to join so I could post.

I live in the Shenandoah Valley, near West Virginia.

Hello and welcome to the forum. You will find you never quit the reading. I bet it is rare for a soaper to have just one book.

Welcome! There are many Virginians here! I'm in Manassas.

Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome!

I have been reading everything I can get my hands on. I was very disappointed that I was going to have to wait to get my oils in from an online site. Until I found the Walmart recipe! Me and my friend made a 3 pound batch last night.
We divided it at a light trace to make our own scents and I am happy to say that our soaps are setting up (gelling maybe? not sure, but it is getting firm!)
I did lavender and she, who is into aromatherapy, did equal parts of rose, jasmine and ylang ylang. Her's traced quickly after adding the EO's.

We are very excited that we started/ learned a new hobby together and look forward to hanging out on the forum.

By the way, Woodstock is where our closest Walmart is! I might even know your aunt!

Well, we are trying to cut the soap and it is VERY flaky. Like, it is breaking off in chunks. What went wrong?

Off to post in another forum as well.

Thanks!
